On July 6th, the Teatro di San Carlo Ballet Company, a time-honoured ballet ensemble from the home of ballet art, made its debut at the NCPA and performed dreamlike fairytale ballet Cinderella.
The curtain was raised and there appeared a simply decorated room, where two stepsisters of Cinderella (starring Claudia d'Antonio) had bullied her, and made fun of each other at other times while quarreling from jealousy.
Claudia d'Antonio's elegant body language and intriguing performance rendered this character, who is neither humble nor pushy but strong-minded and optimistic, to the life.
Artistic Director and choreographer Giuseppe Picone outlined the female characters with very precise characteristics, the stepsisters and the step-mother with aggressive, arrogant and unresolved personalities.
In a palace hall, Cinderella, who is beautiful and attractive in splendid attire, met the prince with the help of her godmother and fairies of four seasons.
In Act III, unusually brilliant pases of different personalities were performed, including a flamenco-like passionate dance and an Egyptian-style exotic dance, giving the audience novel experiences.
