On December 21^st, NCPA sees the coming back of The Dawns Here Are Quite involving composer TANG Jianping, playwright WAN Fang and stage director WANG Xiaoying. With LÜ Jia in the conductor’s chair, the main cast featuring YUAN Chenye (baritone), YANG Qi (mezzo), WANG Hongyao, LI Xintong, ZHANG Zhuo, LIU Lian will give a salute to those protagonists’ gorgeous youth lost in the flames of war.

This time the line up will perform the poetic opera in a more laconic manner than the premiere at here, thus making a sharp contrast between war and peace. Mr. TANG, in particular, added a new aria “Greeting the Dawn” for Sonia Gurvich with the aim of unleashing how war destroys this promising girl. And in a waltz, all those girls, too, are directly exposed to the maelstrom of war to sharpen the motif.

As the stage director put, “This China-born opera showcases our understanding of Russian culture and music. More importantly, it expresses our sympathy for those victims in World War II as well as humanitarianism pervading Russian literature.”

From December 22^nd to 25^th, the opera will come afresh thanks to another cast including ZHANG Yang, KUANG Liling, LIU Ying, WANG Jing, DONG Fang and LU Sijia.
