NCPA opera film The Long March was premiered on July 1st

On July 1st, NCPA opera film The Long March had its premiere at NCPA. This opera was staged last year to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Long March of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army.

The Long March was created by a group of China’s first-level artists, and invited well-known Chinese vocalists join the performance. Then, the film director HOU Keming shot the second round of the performance (Chinese traditional canto) into an opera film. 8 cameras were used during the shooting process and this opera film was made by an advanced 4K-resolution technology, aiming to bring the audience a wonderful enjoyment in bright colours and hyper-real sound effects.

“For this film, we made, produced, and released it all by 4K technologies and shot it at 50fps. This is why the screen pictures look clearer and fuller, and some details in the opera are displayed clearly,” said the director HOU Keming.

In terms of sound effect, NCPA processed and balanced over-70-channel sound during post-production period in collaboration with Beijing Film Academy, maximally retaining the live orchestral effect.

In the future, NCPA will continue to hold a series of opera-related activities such as international opera film exhibitions and opera film projection on campus and in cinemas.
