In the concert, the famous Chinese violinist LÜ Siqing performed Barber’s Violin Concerto, Op. 14, which is featured with a strong European romantic flavour. In the second half, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s representative work Scheherazade presented a brilliant and colourful fantasy land. This work was created based on the well-known Arabian folktale collection Arabian Nights. As the melody diffused, an Arabic-style picture scroll unfolded little by little, portraying interesting folk stories, inviting natural landscape, sweet love, strong passion and delicate, gentle lyrics. Bizarre Arabic tales took all fantasies about summer nights far away, and further embellished the audience’s journey of this summer night concert.
The concert was streamed on the NCPA Classical Music Channel and other platforms
The concert was streamed on the NCPA Classical Music Channel as well as online platforms such as CNTV, Migu, Douban, Beijing Time and Youku. Live broadcasting will continue through all the six “Roam about the Classics” concerts.
