On December 14th
, the NCPA national dance drama commission The Railway to Tibet
will be staged in order to mark the 40th
anniversary of the beginning of the Reform and Opening-up and the 12th
anniversary of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway’s Openness.
This dance drama set in the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, a major project implemented after the Reform and Opening-up. It tells a touching story about how the construction soldiers from the railway corps and local civilians developing a profound friendship with each other during railway construction. The drama is produced by a team of Chief Producer Director WANG Ge, Playwright LUO Bin, Music Director Yin Qing and Composer YANG Fan, and it will be performed by dancers LI Xing, WANG Zhenbing, FENG Jingya, QIN Danni, Lhakpa Tashi and YANG Jialun, etc. The story represents the tough days of railway building and the close ties between the soldiers and civilians in authentic Tibetan style.
On the morning of December 4th
, a media interview was held at the NCPA Rehearsal Room. The event invited the creative team and performers of The Railway to Tibet
such as Composer YANG Fan and Stage Script Designer LI Zhi, as well as the dancers from Beijing Dance Drama & Opera and the Central Academy of Drama. YANG Fan gave an introduction of the music, and LI Zhi detailed the theme of the dance drama and creation process behind the story. Then, the performers starring in The Railway to Tibet
performed four dance clips, including dance “Supporting the Army”, “Sentiment”, “Encountering”, and “Spring Planting.”
More than 20 enthusiastic viewers were invited to dance “Spring Planting” with the lead dancers to better understand the charms of The Railway to Tibet.
