On April 12^th, the world famous The Cleveland Orchestra presented an amazing concert with pianist Daniil Trifonov under the baton of Franz Welser-Möst, performing classic works of Beethoven and Richard Strauss.


The orchestra first visited Beijing with maestro Christoph von Dohnányi in 1998. After 21 years, the orchestra returned to Beijing with its Music Director Franz Welser-Möst, and they together made their NCPA debut.


Maestro Franz Welser-Möst has left a deep impression on music lovers for his artistic virtuosity on many important stages, such as The Vienna New Year’s Concert. This time on April 12^th, the maestro received thunderous applause the moment when he stepped on stage.


The concert kicked off with Beethoven’s Emperor Concerto, which was presented by the highly acclaimed pianist Daniil Trifonov. His interpretation of the piece not only showed the profoundness and broadness of Beethoven’s work, but also the unique artistic virtuosity and music creativity of the pianist himself, demonstrated by his superb techniques.


If the concert of the first half demonstrated the orchestra’s cultural heritage, then Richard Strauss’ Ein Heldenleben on the second half revealed the orchestra’s superb skills under the baton of Franz Welser-Möst. Through this challenging piece, the orchestra impressed the audience with their charming and elegant sounds.

On April 13^th, Franz Welser-Möst will bring another music feast with the orchestra, which features Sergei Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 3 in C Minor and Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 5 in E Minor.
