On July 3rd, 2019, under the baton of conductor Sir Andrew Davis, BBC Symphony Orchestra will cooperate with mezzo-soprano Catherine Wyn-Rogers to perform at the NCPA.
Sir Andrew Davis
Since its establishment in 1930, the BBC Symphony Orchestra has been at the heart of British music lifestyle. Throughout the long history for nearly 90 years, many European masters devote countless efforts to the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Among them, conductor Günter Wand enables the orchestra to accept the orthodox German and Austrian symphony traditions. Pierre Boulez, Gennady Rozhestvensky and other maestros extend the vision for repertoires, and endow the orchestra with a deeper understanding of the works in different styles. As a resident orchestra that offers more than a dozen concerts at “Promenade Concert” every year, the BBC Symphony Orchestra not only has great influences on the British classical music community, but also plays an important role to promote classical music.
Mezzo-soprano Catherine Wyn-Rogers
Sir David Davis will conduct the BBC Symphony Orchestra. He served as Principal Conductor of the orchestra during 1991-2004. This 13-year work experience also makes him Principal Conductor with the longest tenure at the BBC Symphony Orchestra, following the founder Sir Adrian Boult.
