On November 22^nd, 2019, jointly hosted by Shenyang Conservatory of Music, NCPA and Southwest Normal University Press, New Book Launch Conference for 100^th Anniversary of Chinese Opera—A Collection of Highlighted Excerpts was held at the NCPA Arts Library. ZHAO Jiachen (Deputy Secretary of the CPC NCPA Committee and Vice President of NCPA), JI Huibin (President of Shenyang Conservatory of Music), MI Jiade (President of Southwest Normal University Press), WANG Zujie (Former Head of Song and Dance Troupe of the PLA General Political Department, National First-level Composer and Chairman of China Opera Research Society) and YU Feng (President of the Central Conservatory of Music) attended and delivered speeches. PENG Yun (Deputy Director of Literature and Art Bureau of Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee), HUANG Xiaoju (Director of Music, Dance Acrobatics Division of Art Department, Ministry of Culture and Tourism), composers ZHANG Zhuoya, YIN Qing, XU Zhanhai, LEI Lei and LUAN Kai, musicologists YANG Yandi and JU Qihong, music critic JIANG Li, singers and music educators LIU Hui, HUANG Huali, WANG Lida, YANG Shanpu (President of Huayi Brothers TV Drama Division) and other guests attended.

With ZHAO Deshan (Vice President of Shenyang Conservatory of Music, Professor and Master Supervisor) as chief editor, WANG Shuo (Associate Professor of Shenyang Conservatory of Music, PhD and Master Supervisor) and ZHAO Nan (teacher at School of Music and Communication, Shenyang University) as associate editors, 100^th Anniversary of Chinese Opera — A Collection of Highlighted Excerpts is published by Southwest Normal University Press. The book consists of nine volumes compiled in chronological order, and a total of 355 excerpts from 117 operas are contained. This systematic and professional opera textbook integrates music scores, accompaniment and explanation in one, which is characterized by the widest repertoire and largest time span. Many selected works gain popularity up to now, including 35 excerpts from eight NCPA opera commissions The Long March, Xishi, The Chinese Orphan, The Ballad of Canal, Visitors on the Snow Mountain, FANG Zhimin, LAN Huahua and Jinsha River.

Soprano WANG Lida

After the new book launch conference, led by Professor ZHAO Deshan, young teachers of Shenyang Conservatory of Music and Shenyang University presented an opera repertoire excerpts appreciation concert. WANG Lida, a soprano and teacher of the Central Conservatory of Music, also appeared and sang the thematic excerpt "Mount Yimeng, My Eternal Parent" from the opera Mount Yimeng.
