On the evening of June 6th, the 8th concert of the NCPA “Sound of Summer Blooms” online series was staged. An audience of 130 was invited to the spot, covering the frontline medical staff, public security officers, grassroots community workers, NCPA members and journalists. This concert had been viewed online more than 27 million times until 1 p.m., June 7th.
NCPA managed the venue and the audience in strict compliance with epidemic prevention standards. Only the stalls and part of the first balcony were put into use, with audience members being spaced with two seats on their left and right, and one row in their front and back. Before the concert, LÜ Jia, the NCPA Artistic Director of the Music, and ZHOU Haihong, a professor of Central Conservatory of Music, jointly gave a pre-concert talk. Under the leadership of LÜ Jia, China NCPA Orchestra rendered Symphony No. 103 in E-flat Major by Haydn and Clarinet Concerto in A by Mozart. TV Host LI Kun was specially invited as a representative of the audience to join in on the evening.
After the concert, LIU Lifei, the leader of Beijing medical team aiding Hubei, said: “While in Wuhan, all the medical staff were inspiring themselves with music. The music pieces we appreciated today exhibited the mood and spirit we were in when fighting in Wuhan.” XIANG Haiping, Vice President of Beijing You’an Hospital, commented: “Today’s music gave us power and fully presented our longing for a beautiful life. I hope to take off our masks as soon as possible to enjoy live concerts.” Deng Qiumin, Deputy Director of Baimiao police station, Tongzhou branch of Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau, said: “The beautiful music lifted our spirit and encouraged us a lot, enabling us to carry out the following epidemic prevention and control work energetically.” Upon hearing long overdue applause, LÜ Jia said: “ Today, I was genuinely moved by the long-waited applause coming from the frontline medical staff. I could sense their energy and power even I was not facing them.”
The concert was streamed by 43 media and 66 online platforms, enabling tens of millions netizens to enjoy the high-quality online concert.
