The annual NCPA Opera Festival returns in its tenth session. This year, the 105-day festival presents repertoire covering four NCPA operas and some domestic opera houses' productions of Chinese stories.
Audience will be shown Chinese stories from the past to the present with The Long March,the NCPA commission and Chinese epic opera; Manasi, King Zhuang of Chu, LIU Sanjie and TU Youyou. The Dawns Here Are Quiet, a NCPA opera commission for the fourth round, is based on the novel that several generations of Chinese people recalls. The 2018 festival will also be highlighted by Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, a co-production by the NCPA, Royal Opera House and Opera Australia, as well as the NCPA production of Romeo et Juliette in honour of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Gounod.
