From October 1^st to October 7^th, 2022, The Literature and Art in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, a literature-based drama by the National Theatre of China, will be premiered at the NCPA. As the closing performance of the NCPA Theatre Festival 2022, this drama is produced and performed by the National Theatre of China to celebrate the 73^rd Anniversary of the Founding of the PRC, commemorate the 77^th Anniversary of Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, commemorate the 80^th anniversary of the public release of Chairman MAO Zedong's Speech at Yan'an Symposium on Literature and Art Work, and commemorate the 8^th anniversary of the public release of General Secretary XI Jinping’s Speech at the Symposium on Literary and Art Work.

With Yanghezhiwen Work Studio as playwright, this drama brings together stage director TIAN Qinxin, composer YE Xiaogang, visual effects director FEI Jun, performer director HAO Wei, set designer WANG Chen, lighting designer WANG Qi, hair style designer CHEN Minzheng, sound effects designer WANG Danrong, video director SONG Cheng. They cooperate with outstanding artists of the National Theatre of China to demonstrate the creative strength.


The Literature and Art in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression sets a precedent for literature-based drama by the National Theatre of China. Delving into documents of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the creative team regard the real writers and artists in historical events as different roles in the drama, revive the history on stage, and express passionate emotions of the elder generation of Chinese litterateurs and artists. In terms of stage art presentation, it is not only a drama performance, but also an experiment wired to a perfect combination of installation video art and drama art. The ever-changing space structure radiates on the simple stage. Multimedia projection is applied to look back at the war, review the historic events of literature and art and actual conditions of litterateurs and artists during the period of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, and jointly give vent to righteous ardour.
