  Stage Design of the Drama The Grand Mansion Gate

  XUE Dianjie studied stage design in the former German Democratic Republic. He is now a national first-class stage designer at the National Theatre of China, a member of the China Artists Association and the China Theatre Association, and an Honourary President of the China Institute of Stage Design for which he served as the 2^nd and 3^rd President. He was granted the Special Government Allowance in 1993, engaged as a guest professor by the Central Academy of Drama in 2003, and was given the title “Outstanding Theatre Worker Recognized by the Ministry of Culture” in 2007. His works earned him the Grand Splendor Award of the Ministry of Culture, the Art Festival Stage Design Award and the “Top 10 Outstanding Contributor to Stage Design” award of the 2nd National Stage Art Exhibition. His works were compiled into Xue Dianjie-Collected Works of Stage Design published in 2010.

  Stage Design of the Ballet A Dream of Red Mansions

  LIU Xinglin is a professor at the Central Academy of Drama, an honourary member of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Vice President of the China Institute of Stage Design, and President of the Chinese Centre of OISTAT(International Organisation of Scenographers, Theatre Architects and Technicians). He was on the international panel of judges for the World Stage Design 2017 and the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space 2019. His works have won multiple major awards at home and abroad, including a Gold Award at the World Stage Design 2009 for Tang Wan designed for the Fujian Fanghua Yue Drama Troupe, a Best Stage Design nomination at the World Stage Design 2013 for The Wilderness designed for the Beijing People’s Art Theatre, the Honourary PQ 2015 Award for Performance Design for The Peony Pavilion designed for the Northern Kunqu Opera Theatre, and a 1^st Place at Stage Design at the World Stage Design 2022 for The Tempest designed for National Centre for the Performing Arts.

  Stage Design of the Drama Good Fortune and Bad Fortune

  DAI Yannian is a national first-class stage designer, a member of the China Theatre Association and of the Chinese Society of Drama, and a director at the China Institute of Stage Design. His stage design works -- more than 200 in number -- have earned him a multitude of awards and honours including the Splendor Stage Design Award, the Golden Lion Drama Award, and the Outstanding Stage Design Award of the China Theatre Festival; several “Five Top Projects” Awards, 1st place for stage design at the PLA arts demonstration, and the Outstanding Stage Design Award of the“Golden Star Awards”.   Stage Design of the Hakka Folk Song Musical Lin Fengmian

  JI Qiao is a national first-class stage designer, the Vice President of the China Institute of Stage Design, a guest professor at the Central Academy of Drama, an expert with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and an Honorary President of the Guangdong Association of Stage Art. His work was exhibited multiple times at the World Stage Design and the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space. He is a recipient of the Golden Lion Drama Award 2004-2007, the Chinese Opera Award of Contribution to Modern Theatre 2011, and a multi-time winner of the Wenhua Stage Design Award and the Outstanding Stage Design Award, the China Theatre Award for Outstanding Production, the Institute Award of the China Institute of Stage Design,“Five Top Projects”Award of the Publicity Department of the CPC, and the Outstanding Stage Design Award of the China Theatre Festival.

  Stage Design of the Drama Confucius

  LUO Jiangtao graduated from the Central Academy of Drama, the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart, and the State Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe. He is a lecturer at the stage design department of the Central Academy of Drama. He has won such awards and honours as the Splendor Stage Design Award, the Outstanding Stage Design Award of the China Theatre Festival, a Top Ten Production of the National Excellent Stage Art Works Project, “Five Top Projects Award” of the Publicity Department of the CPC, Cao Yu Theatre Award for Outstanding Stage Design, the Hong Kong Chinese Drama Festival Award for Outstanding Stage Design, the China Opera Festival Award for Outstanding Stage Design,etc., and served as chief stage designer for the opening and closing ceremonies of Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games.

  Stage Design of the Opera Xiaohong

  MA Lianqing is a national first-class stage designer, a member of the China Institute of Stage Design, and the Chief Stage Designer at the China National Opera House. His stage design works have been awarded multiple accolades, including the “Five Top Projects” Award of the Publicity Department of the CPC, the Grand Splendor Award, the Top Ten Productions of the National Excellent Stage Art Works Project, the Golden Award of the China Theatre Festival and Golden Award of the First China Opera Festival. He is a winner of the Splendor Stage Design Award, the First China Opera Festival Award for Outstanding Stage Design, the Institute Award of the China Institute of Stage Design, and the Outstanding Stage Design Award granted by the former Ministry of Culture during the national performing arts demonstration. His work also entered the shortlist of the World Stage Design 2017. As a versatile stage designer, he made multiple visits abroad on behalf of China. His works have toured on opera stages in the United States, Italy, Egypt, and Germany and were well received in the stage design community.

  Visual Director of the Poetic Drama The Spring in Yangjialing

  REN Dongsheng is the Deputy Director of the Youth Dance Company and a master’s supervisor at the Beijing Dance Academy, a national first-class stage designer, the Executive Deputy Director of the CISD Professional Committee of Lighting, a director at the China Musical Association, an editorial member of the journal Entertainment Technology, the initiator and visual director of the Daliangshan International Theatre Festival, a guest professor and an artist-in-residence at the Shanghai Theatre Academy, an expert on teaching practice at the Central Academy of Drama, and a distinguished professor at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. He worked as the core creative member and stage design architect for the svl epic The Great Journey in celebration of the 100^th anniversary of the founding of the CPC, and the chief visual director for the first, second and third seasons of the conceptual performance Apologue 2047.

  Design of the Interactive Video Installation Stray Birds

  FEI Jun is a professor of art and technology and doctoral advisor at the School of Design of the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA), and the creative director of MOUJITI ART+TECH. He worked as one of the chief video projection designers for the situational epic The Great Journey in celebration of the 100^th anniversary of the founding of the CPC, the chief visual director for the 2023 Spring Festival Gala, the director of the Digital Media Studio of the CAFA School of Design and co-curator for the Beijing Media Art Biennale. He is devoted to art and technology research, education and practice as an artist, a designer and an educator. His artistic practice is focused mainly on narration in a mixed field virtual and physical elements. His works were displayed at international exhibitions and art festivals such as the Venice Biennial, and won such accolades as the iF Design Award, the Red Dot Design Award, and the Design for Asia Awards.

  Stage Design of the Drama A Story by the Lancang River

  BIAN Wentong is a stage design professor and doctoral advisor at the Central Academy of Drama, the Director of the Business Division at the Asia Theatre Education Centre, a leading figure in philosophy and social sciences under the “Ten Thousand Talents Program” a scholar of the “Four Batches” of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, a laureate of the “March 8^th Red Flag Medal”of Beijing, a director at the China Theatre Association, an expert with the International Stage Art Network, and a senior visiting scholar at the Yale University School of Drama. She has designed more than 200 stage plays and over 100 opening ceremonies at home and abroad, and participated by invitation in multiple domestic and international stage design exhibitions and international theatre festivals. Her works were presented with multiple awards, including the Grand Splendor Award of the former Ministry of Culture, the Five Top Projects Award of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, the 5^th Golden Lion Drama Award, the Golden Award of the 2^nd Chinese Stage Design Exhibition, the Stage Design Golden Award of the 8^th All-China Drama Culture Awards, and the Outstanding Stage Design Award of the 8^th China Television Theatre Orchid Awards, and was included in the National Excellent Stage Art Works Project.

  LIU Kedong who graduated from the Central Academy of Drama, is a Class-I stage designer at the National Theatre of China, the Vice President of the China Institute of Stage Design, a guest professor at the Central Academy of Drama, and an outstanding expert with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. His works have been exhibited at various Chinese and international art festivals, including the World Stage Design 2013, 2017 and 2022, and the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space 2015, 2019 and 2023.   TAN Shaoyuan
  

  Stage & Video Design of the Opera The Savage Land

  TAN Shaoyuan graduated from the Central Academy of Drama in stage design that covers theatrical direction, visual stage design, image design, performing arts architecture design, multimedia installations, lighting, etc. The Cherry Orchard which he co-directed with LIN Zhaohua in 2004 presented multiple possibilities for visual space design in theatrical performance. The verse drama Confession, which he co-directed with LI Liuyi in 2005, won the Stage Design Award at the 4^th International Chinese-Japanese Theatre Friendship Awards for its breakthrough in blurring the stage-audience boundary by involving multiple performance zones, multimedia, and multiple connotations. In 2018, The Lady from the Sea was given the Shanghai Modern Drama Valley One Drama Award for Best Visual Design. In 2022, he was engaged as a co-director for the opening ceremony of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. His work was commended by both the International Olympic Committee and the Beijing Organising Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

  Stage Design of the Modern Yue Opera Story of Poverty Alleviation

  HU Zuo is a professor at the Shanghai Theatre Academy and the Party secretary and deputy director of its Stage Design Department, an Eastern Scholar Distinguished Professor of Shanghai, Vice President of the China Stage Art Educational Alliance, and vice President of the Shanghai Scenography Association. He has long engaged in stage design and teaching research, and overseen the completion of nearly 300 works at home and abroad as a chief designer, earning him recognition as a national Baosteel Outstanding Teacher, one of the Ministry of Education’s first eminent teachers in integrating ideological and political education in courses, and a Shanghai eminent teacher into integrating ideological and political education into courses. His works have been given a number of national awards such as the Splendor Award for Stage Design of the 14^th Splendor Awards, the Grand Splendor Award of the 14^th and the 16^th Splendor Awards, the Stage Design Award of the 8^th Golden Lion Drama Award, the Five Top Projects Award of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, and were included into the National Excellent Stage Art Works Project.

  FENG Lei is a national first-class stage designer whose works have been given multiple awards pertaining to major plays supported by projects to foster excellent national performing arts productions. He has engaged for years in cultural and artistic creative work in varied fields like plays, TV programs, large-scale evening galas, live concerts, and large-scale cultural tourism performances. His works were given the Golden Lion Drama Award, the National Award for Outstanding Play Performance, the Outstanding Performance Award of the National Art Academies & Troupes Performance Season, the Best Design Award of the 14^th Bucharest International Animation Film Festival, the First Prize among the Best Works of the 2013 CCTV Spring Festival Gala, the 2011 Shanghai One Drama Award of the Year, the Sweet-scented Osmanthus Golden Award of the 7^th Guangxi Theatre Festival, and the Special Award of the First Daegu International Musical Festival.

  YANG Donglin is the Chief Costume Designer of the China National Opera and Dance Drama Theatre, a specially engaged extramural advisor for postgraduates at the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, and a council member of the Society of Chinese Historical Costume.   HU Yanjun graduated from the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf majoring in free arts & stage design.   XUE Dianjie studied stage design in the former German Democratic Republic. He is now a national first-class stage designer at the National Theatre of China, a member of the China Artists Association and the China Theatre Association, and an Honourary President of the China Institute of Stage Design for which he served as the 2^nd and 3^rd President. He was granted the Special Government Allowance in 1993, engaged as a guest professor by the Central Academy of Drama in 2003, and was given the title “Outstanding Theatre Worker Recognized by the Ministry of Culture” in 2007.   FEI Jun is a professor of art and technology and doctoral advisor at the School of Design of the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA), and the creative director of MOUJITI ART+TECH.   TAN Shaoyuan graduated from the Central Academy of Drama in stage design that covers theatrical direction, visual stage design, image design, performing arts architecture design, multimedia installations, lighting, etc. The Cherry Orchard which he co-directed with LIN Zhaohua in 2004 presented multiple possibilities for visual space design in theatrical performance. The verse drama Confession, which he co-directed with LI Liuyi in 2005, won the Stage Design Award at the 4^th International Chinese-Japanese Theatre Friendship Awards for its breakthrough in blurring the stage-audience boundary by involving multiple performance zones, multimedia, and multiple connotations.   HU Zuo is a professor at the Shanghai Theatre Academy and the Party secretary and deputy director of its Stage Design Department, an Eastern Scholar Distinguished Professor of Shanghai, Vice President of the China Stage Art Educational Alliance, and vice President of the Shanghai Scenography Association.   REN Siyuan who graduated from the National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts, is a member of the China lnstitute of Stage Design and Beijing Theatre Association. His Peking opera The Grand Mansion Gate, a classic adaptation by GUO Baochang for the Jingju Theatre Company of Beijing, was given the first prize of the National Excellent Stage Art Works Project; the Kunqu opera The Extraordinary for the Kunshan Contemporary Kunqu Theatre was given the Outstanding Stage Design Award at the 3^rd Peking Opera and Kunqu Opera Art Zijin Awards; Gui operas The Voice of Victory and The Song of Yan, for the Guilin Arts Academy, were given the Golden Fragrant Olive Award of Guangxi; the Wuxi opera SHEN Wan: to the Tune of Die Lian Hua, for the Wuxi Opera Company,was given the Jiangsu Splendor Award for Outstanding Productions and the Zijin Art Festival Award for Best Productions.

  Stage Designer of the Omnipotent Youth Society’s 2023 Special Show in Shanghai

  LI Ao is a US-based Chinese stage designer. He graduated in set design from the Yale School of Drama, where he was trained under the noted contemporary set designer Ming Cho Lee. His first university degree in stage design was gained at the Shanghai Theatre Academy. He now works as a guest professor in theatre at Fordham University, New York.

  Experience Design of Ear Spa

  ZHANG Wenjie got her bachelor’s degree in theatre, film, and television art design and a dual degree in television editing and directing from the Communication University of China, and her master’s degree in narrative environments from the Central Saint Martins College, University of the Arts London. She works as a convention & exhibition design and planning teacher at the SIVA DeTao School of Design, Shanghai lnstitute of Visual Arts, engaging in teaching research and design in such fields as narrative environments, exhibition design, performance design, and experience design. She is a member of the China Institute of Stage Design. Her work Ear Spa ranked First Place in the Alternative Design part of the Emerging Awards at the 5^th World Stage Design.

  She contributed to The National Trust Exhibition “Anthony Denney”, the reconstruction of Arup’s building in the Smithfield Market, Volkswagen’s future transit system design, and LVMH’s Eco Store design. She was in charge of the design of the China Pavilion at the 2015 Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space, and stage design for Hunan TV's show Laugh Out Loud and lsland Mart.
