Founded on July 28th, 2016, the NCPA Drama Ensemble consists of 21 artists with PU Cunxin, a famous actor and Chairman of the China Theatre Association, as Artistic Director. Along with the China NCPA Chorus, China NCPA Orchestra and NCPA Resident Opera Singers, this professional ensemble always adheres to the principle of "for the people, for art, for the world", playing an active role in a variety of cultural exchanges and interactions at the grassroots level and on campus. The artists have portrayed many unforgettable characters in NCPA dramas The Lei Family, the Royal Architects, Returning Home on a Snowy Night, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Jane Eyre, Hamlet, King Lear, The Merchant of Venice, Look West to Chang’an, The Birds and The Tempest. The ensemble will stage more wonderful works.

  • YU Mengchao is a member of the NCPA Drama Ensemble. He graduated from the Capital Normal University with a degree in Public Affairs Administration. He has starred in NCPA dramas A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Returning Home on a Snowy Night, The Merchant of Venice, The Birds, The LEI Family, the Royal Architects and The Tempest. His representative stage plays include Frühlingsglaube, The Prophecy, Falstaff’s Rhapsody and Monkey King’s Mysterious Partner. In 2017, he performed in the drama Twelfth Night and Beijing People’s Art Theatre drama Fish Eye in Wuzhen Town on invitation.

    After graduating from the Central Academy of Drama with a degree in Acting, SUN Lishi worked as Head of Department of Acting, Beijing Institute of Performing Arts. Having been a teacher for many years, he won Excellent Teacher Award at the 7th Beijing Private Gardener Award in 2013.

He won Best Actor Award at the 2nd “Qionghua Award” and Best Actor Award in the 1st Microfilm Competition of Shanxi with the microfilm Reborn. With his lead role in Tour on One Night, he won “Best Creativity and Comedy Award” in the Theatre Competition of the 36th Moscow World Film Festival for College Students.

    WU Song
    WU Song is a member of the NCPA Drama Ensemble. He graduated from the Beijing Film Academy with a Bachelor’s degree in Directing and a Master’s degree in Theatre Acting. After graduating from the Central Academy of Drama with a Bachelor’s degree in Directing, he became a teacher at the Shanghai Theatre Academy and then went to Canada for advanced studies. His main works include Le Nozze di Figaro, My Poor Marat, Andorra, Caligula, Fröken Julie, Where does Singing Come from, Vaille Que Vivre, The New Tenants, The Pillowman and Resurrection. He has worked as a supporting actor in works including A Dream Like a Dream, Who Killed the King, Three Sisters, Ghosts and Sunrise. He has also worked as a director in works including Fröken Julie, Waiting for Godot and The Zoo Story. His representative film and TV works include China’s first campus idol drama Summer in Beijing and drama A Station Named Starbucks.

    LUO Wei
    LUO Wei is a member of the NCPA Drama Ensemble. He has starred in NCPA dramas A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Hamlet, King Lear, Look West to Chang’an, A Doll’s House, The Birds and Jane Eyre.   • ZHAO Ling is a member of the NCPA Drama Ensemble. He has starred in NCPA dramas A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Hamlet, King Lear, The Merchant of Venice, The Birds, The Tempest, The LEI Family, the Royal Architects and Jane Eyre. After graduating from the People’s Liberation Army Academy of Art with a degree in Theatre, Film and TV Acting, he worked as an actor at the Modern Drama Troupe of General Political Department and acted in many dramas, of which Baptism won many awards throughout the country and army. He has played a leading role in a number of TV plays, such as Live on with Smiles, The Senior Colonel’s Daughter and The Gift of the Magi. He has dubbed Jack Dawson in Titanic 3D, superman in Man of Steel and Prince Guo in Legend of Concubine Zhen Huan. More than 10 radio plays starring him, including Red Banderole, won the “Five-One” Project Award by Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China. His lead roles in TV plays such as Ties Between Hearts and The Teacher won him an International Award by the Asia-pacific Broadcasting Union. In 2013, he won the 13th Best Actor Award for radio plays by the Radio Drama Society of China.

    ZHAO Ling
    ZHAO Ling is a member of the NCPA Drama Ensemble. He has starred in NCPA dramas A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Hamlet, King Lear, The Merchant of Venice, The Birds, The Tempest, The LEI Family, the Royal Architects and Jane Eyre. After graduating from the People’s Liberation Army Academy of Art with a degree in Theatre, Film and TV Acting, he worked as an actor at the Modern Drama Troupe of General Political Department and acted in many dramas, of which Baptism won many awards throughout the country and army.
