From April 10th to August 4th, the NCPA Opera Festival 2019 will launch 11 Chinese and foreign operas, opera concerts and a variety of opera themed outreach activities in 116 days. On April 7th, the NCPA held a special “Opera Carnival” to warm up the opera festival with a rich atmosphere of art festival.
ZHAO Jiachen, Vice President of the NCPA, WANG Hongwei, Ambassador of the NCPA Opera Festival 2019, YAO Hong, Vice President of the China National Opera House, LIAO Yi, General Manager of the Jiangsu Centre of the Performance Arts, and LI Yili, President of the Wuxi Song and Dance Theatre, attended the press conference of the Opera Festival and introduced the highlights.
In commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Opera Festival will carry forward the revolutionary spirit and sing a ceaseless chant for peace with opera commissions The Long March and 170 Days in Nanking.
NCPA Commission & Chinese Epic Opera The Long March will be held on the eighth round from July 30th to August 4th. Chinese tenors YAN Weiwen and WANG Hongwei will once again sing the Long March song in memory of revolutionary pioneers.
NCPA Opera Un Ballo in Maschera, Turandot, Les Contes d'Hoffmann, NCPA Children's Opera Commission Snow White and other classic NCPA Operas will be revived during the NCPA Opera Festival 2019.
The NCPA will specially invite the famous tenor singer WANG Hongwei as ambassador of the NCPA Opera Festival 2019. He will perform in the opera The Long March and Erquan, The Story of Abing, and join in educational events related to opera.
Besides, the “Opera Feast - 2019 World Famous Opera House Tour” exhibition, “NCPA International Opera Film Exhibition” and “Opera Movies into the Campus” will be carried forward nationwide through opera film screenings, art lectures, salons, and artist meetings.
It is particularly worth mentioning that in order to allow the majority of opera lovers to enjoy more performances at the Opera Festival at a lower fare, the “cross-session ticket package policy” first introduced this year at the Opera Festival will definitely satisfy the craving of opera lovers.
