Compared with Doctor Watson, played by Patrick Robinson, Holmes looked more relaxed and cheerful.

Their performances, one relaxing, the other tense, made the whole drama bounce between darkness and hearty laughter.

It is worth mentioning that in addition to the two partners, Matt Gavan, Jane Gurnett and Greg Haiste gave a more enjoyable performance, because they also played about 40 other roles with consummate acting skills.

On stage, they played different roles with costumes and even the accent and tone changed among roles. They showed dazzling comedy skills and jointly created distinctive characters, making the drama “amusing” from beginning to end.

The authentic sound effect and stage scenery also added heft to the drama. The Victorian English costumes seemed to take the audience back to Holmes’ time.

The drama will be staged again and again till September 7th. From September 13th to 14th, the Peking Opera New Dragon Gate Inn will be put on with more highlights to be presented on the stage at the NCPA International Theatre Festival.
