In 2014, the NCPA adapted the classic film of the same name into an opera for the first time. The opera version retains the classic characters, lines, scenes and tunes of the original, but is enriched with newly created music.
It was previously presented in concert version in this year’s NCPA Online Series. This time, the NCPA is presenting the full-length opera again after a gap of five years.
The audience was treated to an authentic masterpiece, which featured magnificent symphonic music, an intriguing plot, classic tunes, a distinctive ethnic flavour and unique stage design.
Appeal and richness were added to songs with solos and ensembles by Dilber and other singers, choruses by the China NCPA Chorus, and the collaboration between the NCPA Resident Singers, China NCPA Orchestra and China Ethnic Song & Dance Ensemble.
On December 4th, soprano ZHOU Xiaolin will lead the cast to present the opera together with WANG Chong, WANG Hexiang, and NIU Shasha. This round of performances will last until December 6th.
