The production is adapted from the TV series of the same title and produced by a creative team of well-known artists including the composer MENG Weidong, librettist YI Ming and director WANG Xiaodi.

Based on the TV drama, the opera's artistic features get fully integrated into the production. All impressive characters in the drama appear on stage. It is not only a simple ode to the people of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, but also a heroic hymn to the people of Fujian province.
In terms of music composition, the composer MENG Weidong characterises the opera by composing the music on the basis of northwestern Chinese folk music elements including Ningxia folk songs, Northern Shaanxi folk songs, and Shanxi folk songs.
The actors’ and actresses’ lines have distinctive Fujian and Ningxia characteristics. The performers acted in authentic dialects, interpreting the personality of northwestern Chinese people, who are simple, honest and stubborn.
The opera will continue to be staged until March 12th. Conductor ZHANG Guoyong joins hands with the China NCPA Chorus, Guiyang Symphony Orchestra and the main performers to show the strongest-willed, and simplest Chinese people.
