To commemorate the 40
th anniversary of China’s Reform and Opening-up and the 12
th anniversary of the completion of Qinghai-Tibet Railway, the NCPA premiered a dance drama
The Railway to Tibet on July 1
st, 2018. This realistic dance drama themed "Qinghai-Tibet Railway" was created by artists WANG Ge, LUO Bin, YIN Qing, YANG Fan, et, al. With a focus on the construction process and achievements of Qinghai-Tibet Railway, a key project in China’s Reform and Opening-up, the dance drama follows two clues of realistic course of railway construction, suspension and reconstruction and the calls from the people for a spiritual road in Tibet, and attempts to tell a story on synergetic railway construction and psychological construction.
It took NCPA three years to create this drama. So far, it has been successfully performed 48 times. The creatives carry out many improvements and revisions from the perspective of dance drama structure, dance design, costume, hair style, props, lighting and stage multimedia, demonstrating the skillful military dance and the distinct Tibetan folk dance.
