During the week-long Spring Festival holiday, the NCPA has presented the music drama film The Beautiful Blue Danube, the Ethnic and Folk Dance Gala Colour and Dance, the “Festival Waltz” concert and Peking Opera film Red Cliff to audiences from all over the world through the NCPA Classical Music Channel and other online platforms. The four performances stunned millions of netizens with their spectacular performances. As of press time, it has received more than 110 million views in total. On the 5^th day of the Chinese New Year, in particular, the “Festival Waltz” concert presented by conductor LÜ Jia and China NCPA Orchestra, has received more than 35 million views.

During the pre-concert talk, netizens got a taste of the Vienna New Year’s Concert. The NCPA has invited SUN Xiaomei, the live host of the Vienna New Year’s Concert on CCTV, and Professor HAO Weiya, the renowned composer who attended the 2021 Vienna New Year’s Concert on CCTV, to talk about the past and present of the Vienna New Year’s Concert with conductor LÜ Jia.

The “Festival Waltz” concert was opened with Voices of Spring by Johann Strauss Jr. Under the baton of LÜ Jia, the music displayed a fusion of energy and magnificence. As is customary in the annual Vienna New Year’s Concert, Johann Strauss Jr.’s The Blue Danube and Johann Strauss Sr.’s Radetzky March are the last two pieces. The “Spring Festival Waltz” concert also featured the same arrangements. With the beautiful melody of The Blue Danube, three pairs of ballroom dancers danced to the beat in the public space of the NCPA, creating one of the most romantic moments of the concert. While the Radetzky March was accompanied by audience’s clap, the concert came to an amazing end. Then, the orchestra performed the Spring Festival Overture as a surprise encore.

The concert won many likes from music fans and the viewers have texted numerous enthusiastic messages. It was also streamed on the official overseas social media accounts of the NCPA and BFPA platform, with several alliance members presenting the concert together. 11 Chinese media outlets, including CCTV, NewTV, CGTN and China Daily, also forwarded the concert to a global audience in multiple languages, including Chinese, English, French, Russian, Spanish and Portuguese, on overseas social media platforms such as Facebook, YouTube and Twitter. Nearly 800,000 overseas netizens from more than 75 countries and regions across six continents, including the UK, Germany, France, U.S., Spain, Russia, the Netherlands, Mexico, Colombia, Israel, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, the UAE, Egypt, Morocco and Tanzania, as well as Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, watched the concert and gave rave reviews.

From the 9^th day of the Chinese New Year to the Lantern Festival, online performances such as the dance drama LI Bai, the opera film Carmen, and the Beijing Chinese Orchestra’s Lantern Festival Concert will also be presented on the NCPA Classical Music Channel and other online platforms.
