2021 marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC. To celebrate the historical moment, NCPA exerted itself to restage the Chinese monumental opera The Daughter of the Party in this July.
From October 28th to 31st this year, the opera returned for a second round at the strong request of the audience. The performance was still conducted by LI Xincao and directed by WANG Jun, one of the debut directors.
Singers LEI Jia and WU Jing re-portrayed the heroine “TIAN Yumei” in two lineups and collaborated with others singers, including LIAO Changyong, WANG Hexiang, XUE Haoyin, WANG Zenan, WANG Jing, JIANG Ning, KOU Jing and LIANG Yufeng, as well as NCPA Resident Opera Singers.
LEI Jia vividly acts out the heroine’s mental process, in which she is in a trance at first, then comes to herself and finally makes up her mind to fight for the revolution.
The traitor MA Jiahui (left), played by XUE Haoyin, and Regimental Commander SUN (right), acted by KOU Jing, push the plot to a new direction of development.
The Granduncle-in-law (left), sung by LIAO Changyong, is honest and meticulous about everything. His gentle, kind and rustic lyrics sound so touching. YU Zixi played Girl Juan (right) who is natural and naive.
Guiying (left), starred by WANG Jing, is a softie who is used to suppressing her groans. With the help and guidance of Yumei, she relights a revolutionary fire and grows into a strong-willed, brave communist.
China NCPA Orchestra and the China Broadcasting Chinese Orchestra blended into one harmonious whole, while China NCPA Chorus acted as the vocal accompaniment.
Tomorrow night, artists WU Jing, WANG Hexiang, WANG Zenan, JIANG Ning, KOU Jing, TIAN Mimi and LIANG Yufeng will continue to sing the strength of belief for the audience. It will be staged till October 31st.
