David McVicar conducted the co-production of the NCPA, the Royal Opera House and San Francisco Opera Andrea Chenier. Audiences can yet again watch his unique performance of an Italian opera, along with the colorful stage props and the cartoonish flamboyance of the main character that highlight its comedy. The delicately-designed mise en scene will show audiences how the story develops right before their very eyes.

Falstaff is famed the world over as the last opera by Verdi and he did not create it with traditional techniques, but by applying affectionate music, not independent arias, throughout the play. Falstaff will be played by the baritone Roberto de Candia, who will also portray this role at the Festival Verdi Parma, New National Theater Tokyo and Teatro Real later this year. The baritone Filippo Polinelli will play Ford. The soprano Rachele Stanisci and alto Lilly Jørstad will play Ford’s wife Alice and Alice’s friend Mrs. Meg respectively. The Chinese singer SHI Yijie will play Ford’s daughter Nannetta’s boyfriend Fenton. The couple’s love for each other implies a happy ending of the play.
