"Sound of Summer Blooms" concerts will be staged after "Spring Online" concerts

Following the NCPA “Spring Online” concerts, which ended on May 2nd, “Sound of Summer Blooms” online concerts will meet with audiences on the NCPA Classical Music Channel and many other online platforms through symphonies, choruses and opera concerts.

The past four “Spring Online” concerts covered a wide range of performances, including string quartets, woodwind quintets, piano quartets, percussion duets, horn trios, cello octets and chamber music band. By the special arrangements of pre-concert introduction of programmes and highlights of the concert, music lovers got an easier access towards classical music.

Following “Spring Online”, “Sound of Summer Blooms” concerts will be more various in the forms of performance. The NCPA Orchestra, Chorus, Resident Artists, and Drama Ensemble will join the concerts; conductor LI Xincao and ZHANG Guoyong, and Pipa performer LI Jia will also give wonderful performances. The programmes will cover a rich diversity of music works. As for venues, some concerts will return to the NCPA Concert Hall and Multi-functional Theatre.

2020 marks the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth, so the China NCPA Orchestra kicked off the first episode of “Sound of Summer Blooms” with his chamber music works. The first “Sound of Summer Blooms” concert on May 9th will be hosted by REN Luyu. NCPA Artistic Director LÜ Jia and NCPA Orchestra will interpret Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1 in C Major, Op. 21 and Symphony No. 6 in F Major, Op. 68 “Pastoral” for the audience. The NCPA received much love and support from domestic and international arts institutions during the COVID-19 outbreak. The concert on May 9th, themed “Pastoral”, aims to inspiring people via music during this challenging time. This streamed concert is supported by 22 international arts institutions in 16 countries from 5 continents.

In other four “Sound of Summer Blooms” online concerts, the NCPA Orchestra will interpret Le Quattro Stagioni by Vivaldi, masterpieces of Haydn and Mozart, together with Zouxikou by CHEN Qigang, Chinese Sights and Sounds by BAO Yuankai, and Pipa Concerto Prairie Sisters. Besides the symphonies, the NCPA Chorus will give the audience a choral concert consisting of many classical and modern works. Moreover, the resident artists of the NCPA will put on a concert of greatest opera hits, including the concert version of opera Le Nozze di Figaro and excerpts from many other Chinese and foreign operas.

Additionally, the NCPA will launch three special concerts respectively before International Nurses Day, May 12th, International Museum Day, May 18th, and International Children's Day, June 1st. A Special Concert for International Nurses Day 2020, co-produced by the NCPA and Beijing Media Network, will be presented to convey love and respect to “angels in white” with many excellent works created by artists of the NCPA and Beijing Media Network during the epidemic outbreak. On May 18th, Fantastic Harmony: NCPA Concert for International Museum Day 2020, the audience will have a chance to experience the NCPA’s diversification and inclusiveness on art exhibitions and art collection. On May 31st, “I Grow up with My Country”-A Theme Event for International Children's Day 2020, co-hosted by China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (SCLF), China Welfare Institute and NCPA, supported by Beijing Municipal Commission of Education, will guide children into the colourful art space of NCPA through the first-person point of view of children.

It’s worth mentioning that all performers of the NCPA have accepted nucleic acid tests, and strict disinfections have been implemented during rehearsals and performances. The NCPA provides wonderful performances on the basis of good execution on epidemic prevention and control.
