As a shining brand of the NCPA, “Roam about the Classics” series brings unique musical experiences to audiences every summer with its distinctive programme and diverse styles of performances. From July 16th to 24th, the 12th NCPA “Roam about the Classics” series will present audiences with a musical feast brimming with lively and relaxing melodies.
With the theme, “A Tide of Chinese Classics”, featuring myths and fables, popular Chinese operas and folk songs, and Sichuan culture, this year’s “Roam about the Classics” focuses on Chinese music based on excellent traditional Chinese culture, aiming to represent the essence of traditional Chinese culture and redefine the expression of traditional Chinese culture with different forms of musical presentations, so as to provide audiences with a new cultural experience.
In terms of overall performance planning, the six concerts are filled with the charm of Chinese culture and classics. There are the “Tide of Chinese Stories”, which interprets Chinese fables and myths with symphonic music; the “Tide of Chinese Operas”, which explores the fusion of Chinese opera and symphonic music and chamber music; the “Tide of Folk Music”, which is a fresh, orchestral interpretation of well-known Chinese folk songs; the “IP Tide”, which is a musical portrayal of Chinese cultural classics; the “Tide of Traditional Chinese Music”, which showcases the charm and potential of traditional Chinese instrumental music by blending music from the East and the West, and classical and new works; and the “Tide of Soundtracks”, which features the classic scores of Chinese film and TV masterpieces. The diverse content and multi-dimensional structure will offer audiences an all-round experience of Chinese classical music.
