October will set in China, bringing with it picturesque autumn scenery. On the evening of September 29^th, 2021, the NCPA National Day Concert in Commemoration of the 72^nd Anniversary of the Founding of the PRC was grandly held at NCPA Concert Hall. Under the baton of conductor TAN Lihua, I Love You, China, The Red Detachment of Women, Dance of the Yao People, On the Hopeful Field, The Golden Steel-smelting Furnace and other well-known masterpieces were jointly presented by Beijing Symphony Orchestra, Beijing Musicians’ Association Chorus in cooperation with artists including GAO Can, ZHENG Peiqin, ZHANG Yingxi, WANG Chong and ZHOU Xiaolin. Wholehearted blessings were ardently delivered for the 72^nd birthday of the motherland.


This concert raised the curtain under magnificent and solemn melody of the orchestral work Ode to the Red Flag. As a masterpiece created by eminent composer LYU Qiming in 1965, who is laurelled with the “July 1^st Medal”, Ode to the Red Flag focusing on the first Five-Star Red Flag raised at Founding Ceremony of the PRC, and has stimulated and influenced the Chinese people for generations since its premiere. The sonorous and powerful melody crystallizes the sublime heroism of the stubborn and unyielding Chinese who forge valiantly ahead under the guidance of the Five-Star Red Flag. The audiences burst into patriotic sentiments under the unsophisticated and simple melody of famous song I Love You, China. Selected song of ballet dance drama The Red Detachment of Women was brilliantly reminiscent of musical legacies themed with Chinese revolution history. The orchestral work Dance of the Yao People, composed by LIU Tieshan and MAO Yuan, guided the audiences to a jubilant scene where the Yao People sang and danced joyously. Taxkorgan in the Sunshine, co-presented by the violinist GAO Can and both orchestras, depicted the beautiful expanse of prairies, and shed light on strong ethnic features of Tajiks. The unison of violin and chords rendered the joyous festive atmosphere among Tajik herders. In addition, The Golden Steel-smelting Furnace in elegant and powerful style, another violin and band work by GAO Can, conveyed lofty spirit and soaring determination of the Chinese working class to pursue an independent development path and vigorously build socialism. Movement IV of the symphonic work Without the Communist Party, There Would Be No the New China is adapted from a song of the same name composed by CAO Xinghuo. Its diverse symphonic vocabulary pinpointed the profound theme of the whole symphonic work. Without the Communist Party, There Would Be No the New China expressed the boundless triumphant pride in the majestic climax, and eulogized the centurial glory of the Communist Party of China. In addition to the above-mentioned symphonic works, symphonic suite excerpt of Sister JIANG, My Country, My Kind Mother, Ode to Beijing, Ode to My Motherland, On the Hopeful Field and other songs were also presented by four singers ZHENG Peiqin, ZHANG Yingxi, ZHOU Xiaolin and WANG Chong. These songs either rolled out the classics with bold and dauntless heroic spirit, or gave vent to sincere praise and infinite love to the motherland through cordial, solemn, affectionate and impassioned singing. The concert ended with a thrilling and high-pitched epilogue. Coupling strength and gentleness, the music not only expressed the heartfelt wishes of every audience on the site, but also poured out all the Chinese people’s praise and love for the motherland.

I joined the mass parade at the 70^th Anniversary of the Founding of the PRC in Tian’anmen Square. I have also watched theatrical performance The Great Journey in Celebration of the 100^th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China not long ago. I am also inspired with enthusiasm to appreciate the concert tonight.
