From June 28th to July 2nd, 2022, the third round of the NCPA production The Daughter of the Party will greet the audiences. Renowned conductor LÜ Jia will join in this round of performances. Soprano LEI Jia, baritone LIAO Changyong and many other artists will cooperate with the China NCPA Orchestra, NCPA Chorus and China National Traditional Orchestra, with a view to jointly inject immortal vitality into this classic.
Presented in celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the CPC, it has been included in the “Fine Stage Art Creation Project for the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the CPC” by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. This masterpiece has been also selected for the “Excellent Stage Artwork for the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the CPC”, which is jointly launched by the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and China Federation of Literary and Art Circles.
As early as 1991, The Daughter of the Party was premiered by the Song and Dance Ensemble of General Political Department of the Chinese PLA (the predecessor of today’s Chinese PLA Art Troupe) as a tribute to the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the CPC at that time. The opera is adapted from a film script of the same title by LIN Shan. The libretto was authored by YAN Su (in charge of actual writing), WANG Jian, HE Dongjiu and WANG Shouyuan. The music was composed by WANG Zujie, ZHANG Zhuoya, YIN Qing, WANG Xiren, JI Cheng and FANG Tianxing. The debut round was performed by numerous artists, including PENG Liyuan, YANG Hongji and SUN Liying. 30 years later, NCPA opera The Daughter of the Party faithfully carries forward and follows the principle of upholding integrity and making innovation with top-notch artistic quality. This masterpiece lives up to people’s expectations by standing on the shoulders of giants and scaling new heights.
The third round of the NCPA Opera The Daughter of the Party will kick off. Soprano LEI Jia will once again play the heroine role of TIAN Yumei, offering audiences artistic enjoyment for four upcoming sessions. In previous performances, TIAN Yumei, portrayed by LEI Jia in an exquisite and touching manner, demonstrates the firm belief and formidable strength of an ordinary female communist, who escapes from the execution ground, fighting against a traitor with wisdom, and dying heroically. Baritone LIAO Changyong will once again play the role of TIAN Yumei’s Granduncle-in-law, an herb digger. He will impress the audiences with this kind, simple and heart-warming role. Moreover, WANG Jing, WANG Hexiang, XUE Haoyin, WANG Zenan, KOU Jing, HUANG Xunguo, LIANG Yufeng and other members of the original crew will jointly pay tribute to the classic again.
