Spanning over seven decades of trials and tribulations, we now proudly stand within a nation marked by prosperity and well-being. With the PRC approaching her 74
th birthday and the “Belt and Road” Initiative celebrating its 10
th anniversary, the NCPA is honoured to join hands with the Tianjin Conservatory of Music to sing for Beijing and Tianjin, often referred to as “twin cities” of literature and art, by holding the “Motherland, Let Me Sing for You” National Day Concert at the NCPA Concert Hall from September 30
th to October 1
st, in order to celebrate the Motherland’s 74
th birthday with a grand musical tribute.
“Motherland, Let Me Sing for You” National Day Concert will feature an illustrious assembly of artists from the NCPA Resident Opera Singers and Tianjin Conservatory of Music Youth Symphony Orchestra & Youth Choir. Such an all-star cast will also include well-known reciters XU Tao and ZHANG Kaili, renowned singers LEI Jia and WANG Hongwei, and vocalists ZHOU Xiaolin, ZHANG Wenqin, WANG Zenan, KOU Jing, WANG Kai, etc. With the artistic director WANG Hongwei and conductor ZHANG Haifeng, these artists will sing for this flourishing era in the golden autumn.
Under the theme of “Motherland, Let Me Sing for You”, the concert is curated into four sections -
Chinese Love Song,
National Paean,
Long Song of the Silk Road, and
Singing for the Times.
The repertoire features not only timeless classics, including grand symphonic choruses
My Motherland and
New Era March, vocal solos
Eastward flows the Yangtse River,
The Railway to Tibet and
Pamir, How Beautiful My Hometown, but also new works composed for the new era -
Centennial Glory,
Celebration on Earth and
Great Chinese, instrumental pieces including the distinctive national orchestral suite
Chinese Sights and Sounds, erhu ensemble
Horse Racing, violin ensemble
Spring in Xinjiang, and
Youth & Feelings for the Accordion and Orchestra. The classic and new melodies will create an unforgettable musical experience.
Four odes to the motherland have been singled out from hundreds of poetic masterpieces gathered from all over China. These poems titled
What is the Motherland,
I Have Seen My Motherland in a Pomegranate,
She is My Motherland, and
· will be recited by XU Tao and ZHANG Kaili. Their performance will be an amazing highlight of the concert!
This year marks the 10
th anniversary of the “Belt and Road” Initiative, which has delivered remarkable achievements for the benefit of all people in the world. During the performance, YUAN Lu, a tenor residing in Italy, will sing
The Song of Belt and Road with CAO Ying, an associate professor at the Vocal Music Department of Tianjin Conservatory of Music. Their melodious singing will rebuild the spectacular Silk Road.
As one of the mainstays of the performance, the Tianjin Conservatory of Music Youth Symphony Orchestra and Youth Choir will give a brilliant appearance under ZHANG Haifeng’s leadership. They will start with the symphonic chorus
My Motherland, which is followed by classical and new works including choruses
The Yellow River Cantata: Defending the Yellow River and
Centennial Glory, songs from orchestral music
Chinese Sights and Sounds, and symphonic chorus
New Era March. To the accompaniment of beautiful music, their affectionate singing will present a tribute to their beloved Alma Mater and praise for their cherished Motherland. Furthermore, their performance will add greater glory to the Tianjin Conservatory of Music on her 65
th birthday.
