After the wonderful concerts at the NCPA on November 18th and 19th, the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela seperated into two groups. On November 20th, one group led by conductor Rodolfo Barráez visited the Beijing 101 Middle School for a workshop with the Golden Sail Symphony Orchestra. They watched the rehearsal of the orchestra, communicated with the students and together performed Brahms’ classics. More than 100 faculties and student representatives watched the rehearsal. The other group of four artists from the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra visited the Jingshan Civic Cultural Centre and presented a distinctive clarinet quartet concert.
On the afternoon of November 20
th, the Golden Sail Symphony Orchestra of the Beijing 101 Middle School delivered the first movement of Brahms’ Symphony No. 4 in E Minor. The students demonstrated their professionalism and musical understanding. During the more than one-hour rehearsal, the artists and students exchanged on their experiences and shared the joy of music. Under the guidance, students gained a new and deeper understanding of Brahms’ music style. At the end of the workshop, the Golden Sail Orchestra and Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra jointly performed Brahms’ Symphony No. 4 in E Minor, receiving warm applause from the audience.
The artists and students exchange experiences
The workshop is one of the series of activities of the NCPA Youth Arts Festival 2023. The activities also include artists visiting the schools, outreach performances, teacher trainings and public rehearsals.
On the afternoon of the same day, four artists from the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra presented a wonderful chamber concert in the form of a clarinet quartet for art lovers at the Jingshan Civic Cultural Centre.

The performance receives warm applause from the audience
At the concert, the four artists rendered several classic works including Divertimento, Maria de Buenos Aires and Four to Four. The moving melodies and impressive performance touched every audience.
