The performance began with melodious singing. JIAO Miao, Artistic Mentor of the Arts Festival and Chorus Master of the China NCPA Orchestra, guided the teachers and students through an immersive arts journey with her professional and engaging interpretations.
In the first half, the Changping District Second Experiment Primary School Choir sang Chinese ethnic minority songs including Wai-Sa-Lo and Qiduolie, as well as new songs written on the basis of classical poetry and modern music, such as Minor Odes of the Kingdom·Deer’s Call. The performances were enriched by dance and theatrical elements.

The second half unfolded in four themes. The Haidian District Experimental Primary School Golden Sail Choir gave a scintillating rendition of The Most Beautiful Starlight, A Journey in Search of Sounds, Naughty Children’s Declaration and other songs. A highlight came when Chorus Master JIAO Miao not only shared insights on choral art but also raised her baton over the two choirs in performing Sing A Mountain Song for the Party.

During the rehearsals for the Arts Festival, the young choral performers recorded a short video entitled “Theatre Etiquette Initiative”, transforming into little ambassadors of promoting theatre etiquettes.
Standing on a higher dimension as a stronger trendsetter with greater social influence, this year’s NCPA Youth Arts Festival is designed to combine aesthetic education with moral education, fuse high-quality arts resources with basic education and foster collaboration among society, government and schools on aesthetic education.
This year’s Arts Festival embodies the core idea of equity, diversity and excellence:
Equity: ensuring balanced participation from urban and suburban areas, while partnering with the Golden Sail Art Troupe and other art organisations to share art resources.
Diversity: featuring six genres of art - chorus, symphony, folk music, traditional opera, drama and dance, while exploring cross-disciplinary innovations with sports, science and technology to stimulate young people’s interest in the arts.
Excellence: guided by artistic directors LÜ Jia, WU Lingfen, HU Wenge and LIU Sha, with support from the China NCPA Orchestra and Chorus, NCPA Resident Singers and NCPA Drama Ensemble, offering teachers and students wonderful artistic experiences.
