When the bow pushed open the curtain of summer, the NCPA May Festival 2025 continued with an outreach programme officially launched on May 7
th. During the 17-day feast of music, 11 outreach performances will be given to benefit frontline workers and Beijing citizens. As an important brand-name music festival organised by the NCPA, the May Festival not only presents a music feast at the concert halls, but also works with artists to give outreach performances to promote social forces to get involved in rendering public cultural services. Since the launch of the May Festival in 2012, a total of 196 outreach performances have been staged, benefiting an audience of nearly 35,000, with beautiful string music spread at different corners of the city between the professional stage and urban space.

On May 7th, an outreach performance was given on the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences Yanqi Lake Campus. The China NCPA Chorus held a wonderful choral concert there, singing the praises of technology-art integrative innovation. The concert was attended by leaders of the NCPA, Huairou District Government and University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as more than 100 teachers and students.
That same day, the China Broadcasting Chinese Orchestra came to the Beijing Tongren Hospital Yizhuang Branch. Before the upcoming International Nurses’ Day, the artists gave a brilliant performance to bless and thank the nurses in white. Following the two concerts held on the first day, the China NCPA Orchestra, NCPA Resident Singers, National Ballet of China Symphony Orchestra, China Coal Mine Art Troupe, West End Philharmonic and Beijing Symphony Orchestra will bring more outreach performances at the grassroots level to popularise chamber music for the sake of aesthetic education.
