In the early 1950s, Jianghandar gangs fleeing to the Chinese border collaborate with the KMT reactionary forces, and get ready to attack the soldiers and civilians at the borderland. Amir, a new soldier from the frontier guards mistakenly assumes that local herdsman Navruz's new married bride Grandam is his sweetheart at the young age, and gets into deep obsession.
Yang Paizhang casts doubt upon the real identity of the 'bride'. In fact, the so-called 'bride' is latent spy Gribar responsible for collecting intelligence for Jianghandar.
Meanwhile, border headquarters' scout Kara also disguises himself as a shepherd to seek out information about the t enemy outside the mountain, and meets with maid of Jianghandar, actually pure girl Grandam losing contact with Amir for many years, and confirms the identity of spy 'True Deity'. As the approaching of Baroto Festival, fight along the border may break out at any moment. On a storm night, Yibanzhang and soldier Amir on duty at the checkpoint on the snow mountain decisively repel the invasion of the bandits. But in order to cover Amir, Yibanzhang heroically sacrifices his own life. At the same night, young herdsman Navruz coming to rescue them is also killed by an avalanche.
With the help of Kara, Grandam flees from the bandits' lair. But on the runaway, Kara is killed secretly by the spy 'True Deity'.
In the grave situation, Yang Paizhang suppresses his sadness, calmly copes with the situation, and meets plot with plot, finally, in the Baroto Festival sheep picking up game, they cooperate with the reinforcements of the headquarters, and vanquish the enemy's attack, and 'True Deity' and Jianghandar are captured.
Amir meets Grandam again. Peace returns to earth and the Pamirs witnesses the romantic love.
Lü Jia has been conductor of NCPA's productions including Turandot, La Boheme, The Village Teacher, The Chinese Orphan, L'elisir d'Amore, Tosca,Der Fliegende Hollander, Un Ballo in Maschera and The Ballad of Canal.
Lü Jia is the opera director of NCPA, principal conductor of NCPA Orchestra, music director & chief conductor of the Macao Orchestra, and artistic director of Santa Cruz de Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, Spain. Mr. Lü has been the Music Director of the Arena di Verona, the world's largest open-air opera theater, and principal conductor for the Trieste Opera, Tuscany Regional Orchestra in Florence, Lazio Chamber Orchestra in Rome, and Sweden's Norrkoping Symphony Orchestra. He has also been a frequent guest conductor with the Hallé Orchestra and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra in England, the Dortmund Opera House in Germany, and the Milan Giuseppe Verdi Symphony Orchestra in Italy.
Mr. Lü has conducted two thousand concerts and operas in Europe and the Americas, and has cooperated with more than one hundred opera houses and orchestras, including the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, and La Scala in Milan, as well as opera houses in Lausanne, Turin, Rome, Naples, Verona, Venice, Florence, Frankfurt and Stuttgart. He has also worked with the Berlin Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra, Hamburg Radio Symphony Orchestra, Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, Munich Philharmonic, Bamberg Symphony, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Italy's RAI National Symphony Orchestra, Rome's Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, England's City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Norway's Oslo Philharmonic, Lyon National Orchestra in France, Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, all the major orchestras in Australia, and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.
Opera has always played a special role in Lü Jia's career. In Italy and Germany, homelands of the European opera tradition, he has directed nearly fifty operas. As the first Asian conductor to serve as director of a nationally-recognized opera company in Italy, he was praised by one Italian music critic as 'a conductor who understands Italian opera even better than Italians do'. In September of 1989, he won First Prize and the Judges' Prize in the 'Antonio Perdrotti' International Conducting Competition in Italy, which is his entrée into a conducting career. In 1998, he conducted Giuseppe Verdi's classic opera La Traviata, which was recognized as the best conducting performance in Italy's Macerata Opera Festival. In 2005, in recognition of Lü Jia's prominent contribution to Italy's music culture, he was awarded the President's Cup by the President of the Italia, Giorgio Napolitano. In 2008, the La Gazza Ladra conducted by Lü Jia was named Best Opera of the Year in the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro in Italy.
Lei Lei is artistic director of China Oriental Performing Arts Group, Grade-A composer of Beijing TV Art Center, expert receiving the subsidy from the State Council of China, director of China Musicians Association and vice-chairman of Music Copyright Society of China.
So far, Lei Lei has created music works of TV plays, among them, theme songs and music for Four Generations under One Roof, A Police in Plain Clothes, Longing, Stories of the Editorial Board, A Family in Shanghai created a sensation. Lei Lei's latest works include tracks for Stick Together, Feel No Regret for People, Tropical Storm, Broken Jade, Tears of Old Mother and Ocean Gate.
Lei Lei's works have won dozens of awards such as 'Flying Goddess Award - Excellent Music Award', a kind of award for excellent Chinese TV programs, etc.
Lei Lei has for many time been invited to be the judge of various national singing competitions hosted by China National Radio and CCTV as well as the specially invited judge of music works for the Five-One Project.
Lyrics writer, editorial board member of Lyrics Review issued by China Musicians Association, executive member of China Music and Literature Society. He has created lyrics for hundreds of themes songs of films and TV series, such as Longing, Water Margin, The Gate of Reign, Granary, Cao Xueqin, Qiao's Grand Courtyard, Tales of China, Three Kingdoms, etc..of which many have been awarded prizes, including May kindhearted people live a peaceful life, Good timing, geographical convenience and good human relations, The hero's song, Friendship from afar, Yueyang Tower. He has created several librettos of opera and musical, including Empress Wu Zetian, Echos of Hong'an.
Chen Xinyi has been director of several NCPA's productions including Turandot, La bohème, A Village Teacher and The Chinese Orphan.
She is famous dramatist, national first-grade director and recipient of special allowance by State Council of China.
Chen Xinyi is a fruitful director who has been actively engaged in the creation of theatrical drama for 62 years. She has created nearly 100 plays; in addition to stage play, opera and Peking Opera, she is found as well involved in musical drama, children's play and local dramas. The works directed by Chen have won Cao Yu Drama Literature Award, and Splendor Award (for professional theatrical artworks) (Ministry of Culture) even for 14 times (of which four works were given grand prizes), Shanghai White Magnolia Award. Her Dream of Red Mansion and Women of Huizhou (Cao Yu Drama Literature Award) were highly acclaimed. Prosperity of Zhenguan and Mei Lanfang have been selected in the Ten Excellent Stage Works Project.
As a female director, she imparts her works a delicate and understated mood as well as the sensational impact and flavor.
He was admitted into the Central Academy of Drama in 1989, majoring in stage art design, got his master degree in 1997 and stayed to teach in the academy; now director of the stage design department, and a professor, doctoral and post-graduate tutor, a member of OISTAT, and vice president of China Institute of Stage Design.
He has been teaching stage design and engaged in academic research and art practice. For two decades, he has designed the stages for dozens of theatrical productions, including Big Circus, Little Prince, Under the Gingko, The Band of Sky and Earth, Cui'r Bring on the Appetizer, A Real Man, The Twelfth Night, Ivona, Princess of Burgundia, among others. He has won award including: Gold Lion Award for stage design, the Innovation Award given by the Ministry of Culture, the Academy Award given by CISD, among others. He has published more than 700,000 words on professional publications.
Graduated from the Department of Stage Design in the Central Academy of Drama and majoring in costume and make-up design. Main opera productions include Turandot, La bohème, The Red Guards on Honghu Lake and Nose; drama productions include Rhinoceros and Don Giovanni; musical productions include Loving the Sea That Year and The King of Shun; children play productions include Flying Dream, Andersen, Cube Building, Red Children and Sunbird.
He has been awarded 'The Best Creative Award' in China Youth Fashion Designers Fashion Design Contest, the prize at Chinese Stage Art Society Award, the prize at China Population Culture Award, the Special Award at Splendor Award, the prize at Works of Excellence on the Nation's Stage and so on.
Vinicio Cheli was the lighting designer for NCPA's production of Tosca in May 2011, Der Fliegende Hollander in April 2012 and Un Ballo in Maschera in May 2012. From 1974 to 1979, Vinicio Cheli works at the 'Maggio Musicale Fiorentino' involved in all productions. Since 1979 he joined the 'Piccolo Teatro' of Milan and became the light collaborator of Giorgio Strehler , he making the entire production of Piccolo until 1989. Since 1987, for four years, he worked with the 'Rossini Opera Festival' to produce shows with several directors.
At the same time since 1989 he worked at the Salzburg Festival, Theatre Champs-Elysees, Chalet Theatre in Paris with the set design by Pier Luigi Pizzi, then respondeed to the La Scala in Milan. Recollaborated some years with the Teatro La Fenice in Venice.
The 90s of the last century saw himwork in the Opera Bastille, National Theatre of Prague,Festival of Aix en Provance, Ravenna Festival, the Opera of Monte Carlo, Opera of Geneva, Maggio Musical Fiorentino, Baroque Festival of Versailles, Opera Garnier in Paris, Easter Festival in Salzburg, Teatro Liceu in Barcelona, Atticus Theater in Athens, Ginza Saison Theater in Tokyo, Theatre of the axes of Brussels, Amsterdam Opera, Teatro Comunale of Bologna, Teatro dell'Opera in Rome, Opera of Toulouse, National Theatre of Catalunya in Barcelona,Teatro Real Madrid, Metropolitain in New York, and collaborated with P.L.Pizzi,Ezio, Frigerio, Hugo de Ana, KM Gruber, Henning Brockaus, Claudio Abbado, Riccardo Muti, to name just a few.
In the new miennium, Vinicio Cheli continued to expand his collaboration with Ezio Frigerio, Hugo de Ana, F. Zeffirelli, V. Gergiev, Claudio Abbado, Nicola Joel, Quirino Conti, Mario Gas, in productions covering a vast realm of the opera repertoire.
In 2010, he set up La donna del lago of Rossini direqued by Luis Pasqual with scenes by Ezio Frigerio and costumes by Franca Squarciapino; Boris Godunojv directed by Andrei Konchalovsky
In the beginning of 2011, he worked in Senso a new opera directed scenes and costumes by Hugo De Ana. July 2011 'Medea' directed by Theodorakis in Syros Festival of the Aegean. In November of 2011, he worked in 'The sleeping beauty', first ballet of reopening of Bolshoi Theater. Vinicio Cheli also taught theatrical lighting at the New Academy of Fine Arts in Milan and at the Professional School of La Scala.
Sergio Metalli was born in Rimini in 1956 and he is dedicated to his passion for electronics that bring him to choose studies along those lines.
His versatility led him to perform collaborations in all areas at the highest levels like the State television, to have daily collaborations with artists like Dario Fo, Tonino Guerra, Mietta Corli, Hugo de Ana, Nicolas Joel, Ezio Frigerio, Josep Maria Flotats, Lindsay Kemp, Pier'Alli, Gianni Quaranta, Raffaele Curi, Lluis Pasqual, José Carlos Plaza, Tito Egurza, Margherita Palli, Luca Ronconi, William Landi, Peter Stein, Vladimir Vasiliev and many others passing from international conferences until the Theatre which he has a very special feeling.
In over a decade of successful career he has made over 360 productions and he has worked with major opera theatres around the world.
Tian Dan has been the executive makeup designer in NCPA's productions of Les contes de Hoffmann and Norma.
Ms. Tian is currently the deputy director of Stage Design Department of the Central Academy of Drama, and a post-graduate tutor. Tian has designed costumes for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, the drama Cherry Orchard directed by a Russian director (2014), Once upon a Time in the Countryside (2014) in the Olympics of Theater Series, drama And Then There Were None (2014), musical Into the Woods (2014) with an American director, A Midsummer Night’s Dream (2014) with a Swedish director, musical Addicted to Love with an American director (2012),drama The New Year (2012), drama A Peacock Flying to the Southeast (2011), drama The Good Soldier ?vejk (2011), Sino-American musical Fame (2009), Sino-Swedish drama Lucky Pyle's Journey (2008), musical Pseudo (2007), Sino-French darma Don Juan (2006), and the TV series Spies in an Ancient City (2005). Tian has also been a makeup designer in such theatrical productions: As You Like It, Home, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Hamlet, West Side Story, The Twelfth Night, The Story of Love, and Morning Stars, among others.
NCPA Chorus was established on December 8, 2009, whose members were carefully selected from famous music schools in and out of China. Now the Chorus invites Wu Lingfen as the conductor, with many artists well-known in China and abroad giving instructions. Affiliated to NCPA, the highest palace of performing arts in China, the Chorus adheres to NCPA's guiding principles of 'for the people, for the arts, and for the world'. The Chorus mainly stages operas and concerts, and also takes part in kinds of cultural communication and arts outreach events.
Ever since its establishment, the Chorus has actively performed in more than 20 operas of NCPA production, such as NCPA's commission operas Xi Shi, The Chinese Orphan, and The Ballad of Canal, as well as other classical operas in and out of China: The White-Haired Girl, The Red Guards on Honghu Lake, Le Nozze di Figaro, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, L'italiana in Algeri, Rigoletto, La Traviata, Otello, Der Fliegende Hollander, Lohengrin, Carmen, Turandot andTosca, etc. Its artistic quality receives rave acclaims from both the critics and the audience.
Besides operas, the Chorus has participated in many grand vocal works and themed concerts, such as Beethoven's Symphony No. 9, Mahler's Symphony No.2 and No.8, and the grand music and dance epic Road to Revive, etc. As NCPA's resident chorus, it has been to Singapore, South Korea, Hong Kong and Japan to participate in performances and arts exchange, both to wide acclaims.
The Chorus has cooperated with many well-known artists ever since its establishment, receiving high praises from them all. Plácido Domingo once said it was his honor to cooperate with these talented young artists; Lorin Maazel ever praised it 'a chorus full of passion', so and so forth. On the stage of NCPA, the Chorus has cooperated with such directors as Francesca Zambello, Giancarlo Del Monaco, Chen Xinyi, Cao Qijing, Liao Xianghong, such conductors as Lorin Maazel, Daniel Oren, Lu Jia, Li Xincao, Zhang Guoyong, such vocalists as Plácido Domingo, Leo Nucci, Inva Mula, Brandon Jovanovich, Dai Yuqiang, Wei Song, Warren Mok, He Hui, Dilbèr, Zhang Liping, to name just a few. With more than a hundred performances each year, the Chorus is surely to play an active role in the further development of NCPA.
Qingdao Symphony Orchestra was re-established in April 2005 under the support of Qingdao Municipal Government. The Orchestra has a three-tier establishment with a total staff of 80. Mr. Zhang Guoyong and Mr. Zhu Hui, both are famous conductors in China was the Art Advisor, Music Supervisor and Art Director successively, Mr. Xu Dongxiao, a young conductor was the permanent conductor, and Ms. Liu Yuxia, a Violinist with doctor's degree, is the concertmaster of the Orchestra. The members are the graduates from various music conservatories and schools home and abroad. The Orchestra is based on the Qingdao People's Hall with 18,000 ㎡ area for office, rehearsal and performance.
Since its establishment, the Orchestra has rehearsed hundreds of symphony pieces by world famous composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Tchaikovsky and Dvorak. It successfully cooperated with the famous conductors home and abroad such as Christian Edward, Zheng Xiaoying, Li Xincao, Ye Yongshi, Yu Feng, Cao Peng, Lin Yousheng, Hu Yongyan, Lin Tao and Fu Renchang, and accomplished performers such as Liu Yunzhi, Chen Yun, Liang Danan, Li Chuanyun, Liu Yang, Lu Siqing, Qin Liwei, Sheng Yuan, Yin Chengzong, Chen Sa and Zhang Hongyan. These co-operations greatly enhanced the performance of the Orchestra.
The principle of the Orchestra is 'Inheritance, development, innovation and professionalism'. Since the establishment of the Orchestra, it successfully completed the concerto for two consecutive international violin competitions in China and the 8th and 9th national violin competitions. CCTV assigned cameramen to shoot the concert conducted by Qingdao Symphony Orchestra in Qingdao and had the program periodically broadcast on music channels. The Orchestra performed three times in the National Opera House in Beijing. In May 2006, the Orchestra successfully carried out itinerant performance in the three provinces in North-East China. As a showcase of Qingdao's culture, the Orchestra assigned a quartet and an octet group to visit France and Russia, and their performances were well received by the audiences and won favorable comment by the Ministry of Culture of China. The Orchestra was awarded 'Outstanding Contribution Award' by the Russian Culture and Film Agency.
In October 2007, it was invited by the organization committee of Tongyeong International Music Festival in the ROK to stage a performance on its opening ceremony and subsequent itinerant performances, which were well received by the audience. In November, it conducted a well-prepared domestic tour in southern cities such as Shanghai, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Shaoxing, Nanjing and Hefei. In July 2008, it carried out another tour in Olympic related cities such as Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong under the theme of 'Olympic Music'. In these performances, the Orchestra staged a symphony piece entitled “Olympic Sailing Suite” composed by American composer Jeffrey Rona for Beijing Olympic Sailing Competition, and is the first one for which the Orchestra possesses independent copyright. In January 2009, the Orchestra performed in the Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Art Center and Harvard University in the United States which were well-received by the audience. In April 2009, it performed together with Gaoxiong Symphony Orchestra in Taiwan in a cross-strait cultural exchange program. In July 2009, the Orchestra began a domestic tour in Zhengzhou and Lanzhou under the theme of 'Affection with North-West China'.
