About

On December 1^st, 2020, NCPA and Beijing Dance Academy (BDA) jointly established the NCPA BDA Youth Dance Troupe, boasting outstanding young dancers of the Youth Dance Company of the BDA. Combining the artistic production channels and resources of NCPA with the professional strengths of the BDA, the Troupe will carry out artistic activities such as repertoire production, creation, performance, promotion and dissemination. Through in-depth cooperation, the two sides will provide a stage for outstanding dancers and excellent works, create quality works, cultivate talented artists, promote the prosperity of the performing arts markets and artistic endeavors in the capital and the nation, and contribute to the development of aesthetic education in universities.

The performance brings together the representative repertoire of resident young dancers of the Youth Dance Company of the BDA, as well as the latest productions for teaching practice by different departments of the BDA.

Composer: QIN Hongyu (Part)

The work aims to make the audience experience the prosperity of the Tang Dynasty and the self-confidence of the Tang people through the perspective of the beautiful ladies. Classical culture represents a character and spirit that has survived from ancient times to the present. Like the Tang Tri-Color Glazed Ceramics, it can exist in a new form in the present after being polished by time.

Presenter: Female class admitted in 2018 of the Chinese Ethnic and Folk Department, BDA

Music: Ki Tae-gun (South Korea)

Costume Designers: HAN Xianjie, BING Xiangzhi

The work was selected as a finalist at the 11^th China Dance Lotus Award and approved as a project funded by the China National Arts Fund in 2018. The dancer TIAN Jing won the “Best Performance Award” at the Dance Drama and Dance Poetry Competition of the 15^th Beijing Dance Competition & BDA Academy Awards.

Ballet Diana and Actaeon

Rehearsal Directors: LI A’nan, WEI Qun

The work was presented at the Achievement Exhibition of the 12^th "Taoli Cup" National Dancing Education Performance of China. Presenter SUN Pengxiang won the gold medal of the Junior Group at the 5^th NCPA International Ballet and Choreography Competition. Dancer LIU Xinwei won the scholarship for outstanding students in the summer camp of the 5^th NCPA International Ballet and Choreography Competition.

Music: Excerpt from Playful Friends and Witnessed by the Moon

Composer: SUN Diandong (Part)

The work presents the temperament of a group of young scholars by showing their playfulness, elegance and enthusiasm. Using the movements of the paper fans, the dance presents an elegant, vigorous and powerful scene.

The work won the Best Creation Award at the 7^th BDA “Academy Award”, the nomination for Chinese Classical Dance at the 11^th China Dance Lotus Award, and the Exhibition Award at the 11^th National Outstanding Dance Drama Exhibition.

Haiyang Yangge Dance is a kind of folk performing art that combines singing, dancing and acting. It is known for its free-spirited, energetic and humorous style.

Presenter: Ballet Department of the BDA

The work is excerpted from two acts of the Ballet, namely Combat Dance and The Civil Corps’ Broadsword Dance. The National Ballet of China provides the teaching copyright for the work; they also provide support and assistance during the rehearsal process.

With the setting sun still in sight, young Tibetan men and women light bonfires and celebrate the end of the day’s hard work with song and dance. The passionate Nixi people express their love for each other, singing and dancing to their heart’s content in the light of the moon and fire.
