Kôki Mitani Original Author
Humourist Kôki Mitani is a renowned Japanese playwright and director. He is also a national scriptwriter adept at writing stage dramas, TV series and films.
Born in Tokyo in 1961, Kôki Mitani founded a theatre troupe, “Sunshine Boys Tokyo”, in 1983, when he was studying at the Department of Theatre, Nihon University College of Art. After that, he wrote and directed numerous stage dramas, TV series and films. In 2022, he worked as the screenwriter of The 13 Lords of the Shogun, an NHK taiga drama, and won the 41st Mukoda Kuniko Award, attracting great attention. That same year, his film The Magic Hour was adapted into a Chinese film, Too Cool To Kill, which became a massive hit upon its premiere, ranking third on China’s Film Box Office Charts that year.
As a screenwriter and director, Kôki Mitani have written and directed films including Welcome Back, Mr McDonald (1997), Minna no ie (2001), The Wow-Choten Hotel (2006), The Magic Hour (2008), A Ghost of a Chance (2011), Kiyosu kaigi (2013), Galaxy Turnpike (2015) and Amnesiac! (2019). Let’s Talk About Suomi, the ninth film to be written and directed by him, will have its premiere in Japan on September 13th, 2024.

HUANG Hong and his works have won many awards including the Gold Rooster Award for Best Scenarist Award, the Gold Rooster Award for Best Debut Director, the Hundred Flowers Award for Best Feature Film, the “Five-One Project” Award, the Golden Eagle Award for Best Actor, the Wenhua Award, the CAO Yu Drama Literature Award, the PLA Literature and Art Award, the Golden Butterfly Award at the Iran Film Festival, the Best Military Film Award at the Russia Film Festival, the Best Actor Award at the Los Angeles Film Festival, the Grand Jury Prize at the Macau International Movie Festival, etc.
HUANG Hong has performed at the CCTV Spring Festival Gala for 24 times and the “Double Support” Evening Party for 20 times. He has published an anthology of personal writings, The Root, Branches and Leaves.
LI Ren Playwright / Director
LI Ren holds academic degrees from the Department of Acting and Department of Directing, Beijing Film Academy.
LI Ren is a first-class actor and director at the National Theatre of China.
LI Ren is a creative team member and lead actor in many classic dramas produced by the National Theatre of China, including The Knockout, The Field of Life and Death, The Chinese Orphan, The Last Battle, Snowstorm, GU Wenchang, Warrior Lanling, etc. He is the revival director of several dramas including The Grand Mansion Gate, Deling and Cixi, etc.
His representative works include Battle on Shangganling Mountain, Call 4921, Frankenstein and The Magic Hour.
LI Ren has won a number of awards including the Excellent Performance Award by the Ministry of Culture in 2010, a prize at the Modern Drama Valley One Drama Award in Jing’an District, Shanghai City in 2021, etc. One of his representative works was selected for the Beijing Cultural Masterpieces Project in 2021 and he won a prize at the Fourth Chinese Theatre Awards in the same year.

REN Dongsheng is Director of the Department of Stage Design, Beijing Dance Academy, a first-class set designer, Executive Deputy Director of the Lighting Design Society, China Institute of Stage Design, Deputy Director of the Stage Design Society, Beijing Theatre Association, a council member of the China Musical Association, a council member of the Beijing Theatre Association, a council member of the Beijing Dancers Association, an editorial board member of Entertainment Technology, the initiator of the Daliangshan International Theatre Festival, a member and Visual Director of the Arts Council of the Daliangshan International Theatre Festival, a doctoral supervisor and expert instructor of teaching practice at the Central Academy of Drama, an expert, a guest professor and resident artist at the Shanghai Theatre Academy, and a distinguished professor at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. After returning to China in 2007, he founded the Lunar January Image Studio for later-stage multimedia interaction design. In 2022, he joined the National Theatre of China as a top talent.

ZHANG Zhixiong has directed All-Round Successor to Science, Suitcase Minitheatre: Little Planet and Suitcase Minitheatre: The Wing Maker. He has served as the movement director for Battle on Shangganling Mountain and Call 4921.
ZHANG Zhixiong has choreographed for The Cat God in the Forbidden City. He acted as the chief director of the evening party at the Songyang Conference on World Tea Culture and the chief director of A Warm Life, a programme put on at the Songyang World Architecture Forum.
