
China Conservatory of Music Chinese Orchestra
Relying on the China Conservatory of Music’s superior resources, the China Conservatory of Music Chinese Orchestra recruits high-level professional Chinese instrument performers on a global scale in order to develop itself into a top international Chinese orchestra. In addition to innovating Chinese music theory research, music creation and music performance, the Orchestra is also committed to interpreting Chinese classics, spreading the voice of China and telling the Chinese stories vividly to show the world the excellent Chinese culture. The China Conservatory of Music Chinese Orchestra supports the China Conservatory of Music in its “Double First-Class” discipline construction and high-level research university construction with the view of promoting the integrative development of talent cultivation, academic research, social service, cultural inheritance and international exchange, so as to help build the China Conservatory of Music into a world-class university.
The Beijing Musicians Association Choir
The Beijing Musicians Association Choir, affiliated to the Beijing Musicians Association, is the only exemplary and leading professional choral ensemble under the Beijing Musicians Association. The incumbent managing director is ZHOU Tao, artistic director and principal conductor is ZHENG Jian, and consultant is ZHAO Jinnbo. It consists of young choristers from professional choirs active on the stage of Beijing and graduates of different conservatories of music. Well-trained and richly expressive, the staff members are good at performing Chinese choral classics and red classics in their pure voices.
Since its founding, the Choir has received many invitations for cooperation with the Beijing Musicians Association, China Musicians Association, Beijing Federation of Literary and Art Circles, China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, BTV, CCTV, Poly Culture Group Corporation, Beijing Municipal Government, Publicity Department of CPC Beijing Municipal Party Committee, Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the P.R.C and other cultural or art organisations.
The Beijing Musicians Association Choir has performed large-scale symphonic chorus commissions hosted by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and China Musicians Association, such as Sing for the 100th Anniversary, Chinese Spirit Suite, Forging Ahead in the New Era and People of All Ethnic Groups Attached to the Party. For many consecutive years, it has attended Hundred Flowers Welcoming Spring, a Spring Festival gala organised by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, etc.
The Choir has appeared in Heroes in the Poster, a programme by CCTV and BTV, The Theatrical Performance Commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the Chinese People’s Volunteers’ Resistance Against the U.S. Aggression and Aid for Korea, Splendid Well-Off, Song of Well-Off, Hymn to the 100th Anniversary, and Picturesque Landscape, a special programme for the National Day. For four consecutive years, it has attended and recorded a series of events held to remember the outbreak of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression.
In the year marking the 100th Anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the Choir worked with the Beijing Poly Theatre Management Co., Ltd. (PTMC) in producing and performing a large-scale music epic, “Red East Symphony Concert”, which toured more than 40 places in China. The Choir also gave a choral concert entitled “Sing A Mountain Song for the Party”, a choral concert of masterpieces entitled “All the Way to the Sun” and a choral concert of Chinese and foreign masterworks entitled “The Sound of Glory”, premiered the China Poly Group Corporation’s anthem All the Way to the Sun, cooperated with the People’s Music Publishing House in publishing The Song of Communist Youth League of China in celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Youth League of China, premiered the large-scale Peking Opera symphonic suite Grand Canal of Beijing City at the NCPA Concert Hall in 2020, and toured more than ten places in China in 2021.
The Choir gave a performance at the Opening Ceremony of the 13th Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Art Festival hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 2022, performed in Grand Canal of Beijing City at the Opening Ceremony of the Ninth China Peking Opera Art Festival, appeared in a get-together for people from all walks of life in Beijing held to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the P.R.C., gave a performance at the Symphony Concert in Red Hall, held to celebrate the 101st Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China, and acted in large-scale national opera commissions On the Road to Alleviating Poverty, ZHANG Side, etc.
The Choir maintains good cooperation with many Chinese orchestras, conductors and singers - it worked with the China National Symphony Orchestra at a symphonic choral concert entitled “Navigating on a New Journey”, with the China Philharmonic Orchestra in interpreting an epidemic control-themed song cycle, Untitled, at the Opening Ceremony of the 23rd Beijing Music Festival (BMF), with the China Broadcast Art Troupe in a large-scale national symphonic epic Rise, with YIN Xiumei at Stride into the New Era, a solo concert entitled “YIN Xiumei and Her Friends”, and with the Beijing Symphony Orchestra in its season performance. It also performed Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 at the Closing Ceremony of the Hangzhou International Music Festival in 2019, and starred in other important performances including the New Year’s Concert of Beijing, Spring Festival Concert, etc.
