YANG Yang is a graduate of the Conducting Department of the Central Conservatory of Music of China, where he studied under Prof. YU Feng, an eminent conductor and President of the Central Conservatory of Music of China. In 2006, he won the First Place with great distinction in the Dimitri Mitropoulos International Conducting Competition, Greece. As one of the most active Chinese conductors, he maintains close cooperation with all the leading Chinese symphony orchestras and opera houses. Meanwhile, he has partnered with numerous foreign orchestras and opera houses in Germany, France and Italy. YANG Yang is the founder of the Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra and Hangzhou International Music Festival. Now he is Music Director and Principal Conductor of the China National Opera House, Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra, and Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Beijing Symphony Orchestra.
