HUANG Ying is a Grade-A Director, a member of China Theatre Association, a committee member of the Directors' Committee under China Theatre Association, a director of Beijing Theatre Association, and a member of Beijing Film Association; he holds a Master's degree in Directing from the Central Academy of Drama and a Doctor's degree in Theatre and Film Studies from Beijing Film Academy, and currently serves as an Associate Professor and Master's Supervisor at the Directing Department of Beijing Film Academy. Having initiated the creation of original dramas in 1998, he founded HUANG Ying Studio in 2001, and by 2026, he has written and directed over 50 original plays and directed works, which include "New Beijing-style" original dramas featuring strong local customs such as Jujube Tree, Luzhu (Beijing-style Stewed Offal), Before the Horse! Before the Horse!, Open 1990, Blessings and Longevity, Dinner's Ready!, My Half-Life, and Bell and Drum Towers; physical theatre with witty stories and innovative forms like To Be Continued; pioneering "New National Opera" works that explore traditional Chinese aesthetics, including A Dream of Millet Porridge and Journey to the West; reimagined world classics infused with avant-garde spirit and Eastern aesthetics such as Miss Julie and Macbeth; and multimedia musicals that integrate diverse artistic expressions, such as Dream Walker, Blossom Time, Dim Sum, Crossroads, and Crows and Sparrows.

The Beijing Fushouli Cultural Communications Co., Ltd. (HUANG Ying Studio) was founded by HUANG Ying, a first-class director and associate professor at the Beijing Film Academy. Most of its members are senior teachers from prestigious arts institutes such as the Beijing Film Academy, Central Academy of Drama, National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts and Communication University of China. Since its founding, the Studio has kept on creating works in the context of real life. While promoting the traditional culture, it insists on bold innovation, its works imbued with a deep sense of humanity and strong sense of social responsibility.

By 2025, the Studio had produced more than 50 dramas, winning numerous international, national and provincial awards, with its productions staged on many international, ministerial and provincial occasions, gaining a good reputation in the market. Its creations are based solidly on traditional Chinese art, boasting a keen international perspective. With more and more works produced, the HUANG Ying Studio has developed a distinctive style of its own that blends traditional aesthetics with modern avant-garde elements and cutting-edge multimedia techniques. Meanwhile, the Studio is gradually building up its international presence. So far, several of its productions have toured France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Japan, Singapore, South Korea and other countries. Besides, HUANG Ying himself has received high praise and strong support from many senior Chinese and foreign theatre experts.
