ZHANG Kunpeng is a set designer at the NCPA, a distinguished artist of the NCPA, and a member of the China Theatre Association, holding a master’s degree in theater, film, and television art design from the Central Academy of Drama. His works have won numerous awards, including the Best Production Award at the Daegu International Musical Festival in South Korea, the Excellent Production Award at the Fifth Bharata Theatre Festival in India, the China Theatre Culture Award‌ for Best Set Design, the TIAN Han Grand Prize, the TIAN Han Prize for Set Design, the First Prize at the 15^th Guangdong Art Festival, and the Best Production Award at the First “Zijin Cup” Performances of National Little Theater Excellent Drama. He was invited to the BQ Beijing Stage Design Invitational Exhibition‌ and Taihu International Stage Art Forum.

His stage credits include the opera Carmen (Opera Hong Kong), opera Gianni Schicchi, dramas Pride and Prejudice, Crows and Sparrows, Crossroads, The Birds, The Merchant of Venice, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Torn by Fate, and others.

Those supported by the China National Arts Fund include the musical The Song of Youth, dance dramas The Cornfield, ZHENG Lücheng, There is Moonlight on Every Spring River, Xiaobei’s Bookcase and Two Ants on the Road, and others.

Cultural and tourism performances include Luoyang City’s large-scale live-action performance themed on imperial garden, Phoenix Dance in the Divine Capital, large-scale cultural and tourism programmes The Red Sun over Mount Taihang and Ode to Mount Cheng, and large-scale maritime epic musical Chasing Dreams in the Vast Sea.

Major national events include the Opening Ceremony of the 39^th China Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival, Awards Ceremonies of the 35^th and 36^th China Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival, Awards Ceremonies of the 18^th and 19^th China Huabiao Film Awards, and others.

HE Biao is a sound designer and tuner. He is Vice Chairman of the Professional Committee of Sound Reinforcement for Performing Arts, China Association of Recording Engineers, and a member of the Expert Committee of Stagecraft, China Association of Performing Arts.

As a sound designer, HE Biao has worked for large-scale events including the Evening Gala celebrating the Birth Anniversary of Comrade MAO Zedong, the Evening Gala celebrating the 60^th and 70^th Anniversaries of the victories of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascism War, the 70^th National Day Gala, the “Hello, Xiaoping” Evening Gala, “Ode to Yangtze River” Grand Evening Gala, the First China Art Festival, A Millennium Promise, an evening party held at the “Belt and Road” Summit, and the large-scale symphonic music and dance epics The Road to Rejuvenation and Stride Forward, the Nation. He has served as a sound designer in many stage dramas and operas.

HE Biao has also worked as chief sound designer for major national sporting events, including the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympic Winter Games, the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 19^th Asian Games and Asian Para Games in 2022, the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Ninth Asian Winter Games, and others.

In addition to these grand events, HE Biao has also served as sound engineer for the NCPA national opera commission Minning Town, NCPA classic national opera The Daughter of the Party, NCPA musical commission In War & Peace, NCPA drama commission Zhongdu of the Jin Dynasty, musical drama The Summoning of Dunhuang, and symphonic choral suite commission The Chinese Spirit.

WEI Chunyan is a member of the China Institute of Stage Design and a staff member of the NCPA, holding a bachelor’s degree in makeup design from the Department of Stage Design, Central Academy of Drama.

Since graduation, WEI Chunyan has served as makeup designer and costume designer for more than thirty film and TV including Golden Earrings, Wedding March, Love Coast, The Soldier, Sky Formation‌, Plain Shots, The Deadly Crossbow‌, Snipers, The Legend of the Armed Working Team‌, Blood for Honors, Hunting Company, Beacon Sisters, Female Soldiers in Iron Army, The Qin Empire 3, FENG Zicai, The Legend of HUANGFU Mi, and The Flowers and Distant Place. As a costume designer, her stage works include I Love Peach Blossom, The Khitan Dynasty‌, A Doll’s House, The Birds, L’Elisir D’Amore, Effendi, Searching for the Most Beautiful Singing, and Twelfth Night.

Among the works featuring her as hair style designer, the TV drama Broken Thorn‌ won the China TV Golden Eagle Award, and among the works featuring her as costume designer, the TV drama Qin Empire 2 won the China TV Drama Flying Apsaras Award.

JIAO Miao is a resident conductor of the China NCPA orchestra and a conductor of the China NCPA Youth Ensemble Orchestra. She studied under famous Chinese conductor Professor WU Lingfen at the Conducting Department of the China Conservatory of Music, and also received guidance from Mr. YAN Liangkun, a well-known conductor. In 2014 and 2015, she made an exchange visit to the USC Thornton School of Music and Los Angeles Opera on invitation.

As a resident conductor, JIAO Miao participates in making a schedule for more than 100 performances to be given throughout the year by the China NCPA Chorus. She serves as the chorus master in Chinese and foreign operas produced by the NCPA, including Xishi, Carmen, La Traviata, Turandot, Tosca, The Chinese Orphan, The Red Guards on Honghu Lake, A Village Teacher, Il barbiere di Siviglia, The Dawns Here Are Quiet, Visitors on the Snow Mountain, Rickshaw Boy, etc. She has planned and conducted a series of distinctively themed concerts, such as Listening to Golden Years, Wonderful Harmony, Love in Autumn, etc. JIAO Miao has served as a chorus master at lots of concerts given by famous conductors - she organised choral rehearsals for Verdi’s Requiem, presented by the NCPA in cooperation with Chung Myung-Whun, receiving high recognition and praise from the maestro; organised choral rehearsals for Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 in D Minor in a performance co-given by the NCPA and Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra. In addition, JIAO Miao has accumulated rich experience in interpreting art choruses - she conducted the China NCPA Chorus in singing composer GUO Wenjing’s a cappella Echoes of Heaven and Earth, which was published on CD; conducted Jiangchengzi, a choral work composed by Mr. Qigang Chen. In recent years, JIAO Miao has served as a chorus master in a series of important performances including Enduring Memories of Hangzhou at the Opening Ceremony of the G20 Summit, A Millennium Promise at the “Belt and Road” Forum for International Cooperation, etc.

Meanwhile, JIAO Miao has planned and involved herself in 100 public-spirited performances given in a series of art popularisation and education activities organised by the NCPA; hosted lots of choral art salons rich in content and various in form, which are much liked by art lovers.
