From May 25th to June 1st, 2017, children’s opera commission Effendi, created and staged by NCPA in the last year, will be performed in NCPA again as a Children’s Day gift to kids.
Moreover, it is characterized with exotic Xinjiang flavours with the melodies of Uyghur folk songs, ancient Xinjiang earth city, little donkey and performers in Xinjiang costumes on the stage.
The image of Effendi is quite similar to his animated image featuring white scarf over his head, arched eyebrows, beard and Xinjiang tip-tilted shoes on his feet, which looks both witty and funny.
With curled and thick eyebrows, Master Bayi and his wife look greedy and cunny. They wear fine purple costumes with golden trimmings, which match their noble status as landlords, implying the couple’s strong material desire.
In the upcoming seven performances, last year’s main vocalists, such as WANG Hongwei, GUAN Zhijing and MENG Meng will continue to play. Additionally, the opera will be joined by a group of new performers, including NCPA resident artists JIN Zhengjian, ZhANG Yang, and WANG Jing.
