NCPA will launch the global premiere of the opera film Turandot in Beijing on March 16^th, when nearly a thousand Beijing citizens and students will gather together with artists in the NCPA Opera House and jointly reveal the mysterious veil of China’s first film of Western opera classic. 

NCPA will kick off the 2014 Opera Festival on March 14. On the occasion of the opening ceremony of the Opera Festival once a year, NCPA will join hands with Huaxia Film Distribution Co., Ltd to launch the opera film Torandot.  

As the first NCPA production, the opera Turandot has gone through eight rounds of successful performance since its premiere in 2008, toured South Korea in 2011 and has become one of the most popular NCPA repertoires. Not only the Oriental theme of the story itself, but also the melody of Jasmine that runs through the whole play, exudes a deep sense of Chinese charm. What is more, its aria Nessun Dorma is widely sung in China. This opera is said to be one that the Chinese audience should not miss. 

This opera film has recorded the eighth round of performance of Torandot, which has gathered such heavy-weight line-up as the world famous opera conductor Daniel Oren, domestic famous conductor Chen Xinyi, and such distinguished singers as Dai Yuqiang, Sun Xiuwei, Yao Hong, Tian Haojiang, etc. It also includes Yin Shuo, the “flying solo” actress who made an amazing appearance at the opening ceremony of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.  

At the film premiere on March 16^th, the opera Turandot will revisit the Opera House of NCPA in the form of a film. On the occasion, a large 6-metre high and 16-metre wide HD screen will be set up on the stage. The production team and the NCPA Orchestra and choir members will all be present on the scene.
