Two brilliant ballet masterpieces
Le Corsaire and
The Flames of Paris will hit the NCPA stage on May 18
th-20
th and 22
nd-25
th respectively. It's worth mentioning that six Principal Dancers, Leading Soloists and Soloist of the Bolshoi Ballet will visit China with the company for two ballets.
Ekaterina Krysanova, who will play Medora in Le Corsaire on May 18th, made her appearance at the NCPA International Ballet Gala in 2015. At the same year, she won “The Golden Mask” National Theatre Award in the “The Best Ballet Female Part” category and the "Positano Léonide Massine" Prize as the "Dancer of the Year on the International Stage". In 2016, she was awarded the twined “Benois-Massine Moscow-Positano” Prize. Igor Tsvirko who will play Conrad on the same day, won the Second Prize at the Moscow Ballet Competition in 2013. In 2017, he was awarded the “Soul of Dance” Prize by the Ballet magazine. On May 23rd, the two dancers will perform Jeanne and Philippe in The Flame of Paris.
On May 19th, Conrad and Medora will be played by Vladislav Lantratov and Anna Nikulina. Vladislav joined the Bolshoi Ballet following his graduation in 2006 from the Moscow Choreographic Academy. In 2015, he received "The Golden Mask" National Theatre Award. Anna tours intensively in Russia and abroad. In 2004, she was a recipient of the “Triumph” Youth Grant Prize. She will also dance Adeline, a newly-added character in The Flames of Paris on May 23rd and 25th, while Vladislav takes his part as Philippe on May 22nd and 24th, on which Kristina Kretova plays Jeanne, who was named “Miss Virtuosity” at the “Dance Open” Festival in 2014.
Principal Dancer Yulia Stepanova graduated from the Vaganova Ballet Academy in 2009 and joined the Mariinsky Ballet. She moved to the Stanislavsky Ballet in 2014, and in 2015 was invited to join the Bolshoi Ballet as Soloist. In 2014 she received the Taglioni Award nominated as “The Best Young Ballerina”. She will play Medora on May 20th, and Conrad will be played by Denis Rodkin, a winner of “The Soul of Dance” Prize in 2014 and Benois de la Danse Prize in 2017.
What is to expect is Ruslan Skvortsov's interpretation of Costa de Beauregard in The Flames of Paris from May 22nd to 25th. He joined the Bolshoi Ballet in 1998. He was awarded the “Soul of Dance” Prize by the Ballet magazine in 2011 and the title of Merited Artist of Russian Federation in 2014.
