Riccardo Chailly conducts “Voice of Lucerne”

NCPA September/19/2019
From October 12th to 13th, the Lucerne Festival Orchestra will return to the NCPA under the leadership of its Music Director Riccardo Chailly. The orchestra made its debut in China 10 years ago. This time, they will once again bring the authentic Lucerne Festival to Beijing and work with the Russian pianist Alexander Malofeev in two concerts.

Music Director Riccardo Chailly

The Lucerne Festival Orchestra is an amazing all-star orchestra that has members from world-class theatres and orchestras, such as the Berliner Philharmoniker, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Munchner Philharmoniker and Teatro alla Scala.

Lucerne Festival Orchestra

The “Voice of Lucerne” was heard for the first time in Beijing in 2009, when the late maestro Abbado took the Lucerne Festival Orchestra, which he had founded himself, to this land eager for classical music. The four concerts given that year have been one of the brilliant highlights of the NCPA since its founding. In 2014, the maestro Riccardo Chailly took over after Abbado passed away.

Pianist Alexander Malofeev

Maestro Chailly and the Lucerne Festival Orchestra will perform three romantic masterpieces in two concerts. On October 12th, pianist Alexander Malofeev will interpret Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3. In the second half, Chailly and the orchestra will perform Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 3.

On October 13th, the orchestra will interpret Mahler’s Symphony No. 6. Don’t miss out!
