Eugene O'Neill Playwright
Eugene O'Neill is a famous American playwright and Nobel laureate in Literature. He is a representative of Expressionism, whose main works include The Emperor Jones, The Hairy Ape, Beyond the Horizon and Desire Under the Elms.
SHEN Liang Stage Director
SHEN Liang is the Stage Director of National Centre for the Performing Arts. She graduated from the Directing Department of The Central Academy of Drama, and got double bachelor degrees in Chinese Language and Literature, and Theatre Director.
She is the director of NCPA theatrical concert Reflecting & Resounding, director of the NCPA children's opera commission The Fisherman and the Goldfish, the Chinese director of the opening opera Le Roi in the 2008 China and France Exchange Year, director of the 2010 and 2011 anniversary celebration parties of NCPA, chief director of 2012 Beijing Spring Festival Gala, director of Inspirations from Laozi, Inspirations from the Analects of the NCPA version, director of opera Xi Shi (2013 version) , Chinese director of opera Tosca of Chinese three-acts version, co-director of the opera Das Land des Lachelns commissioned by Opera Hong Kong.
She has also been the stage director of dramas including Romances of the Old House, 66, Sisters, Bear, among which Samuel Beckett’s short play Come and Go directed by him was praised as the "best version around the globe". She has also directed concert version operas such as Humen Roar, The Marriage of Figaro, Die Zauberflote and Song of Youth.
Other works she has participated in include La Traviata, Rigoletto, The Chinese Orphan, Aida, Don Pasquale, Rickshaw Boy, The Ballad of Canal, Carmen, Tulou, FANG Zhimin and Sunrise.
CHEN Wenlong Set Designer
CHEN Wenlong is the set designer of Fujian Provincial Song and Dance Theatre, the stage designer for nearly more than 200 large variety shows over the years. He has won 2006 Tian Han Drama Award for Stage Design, Best Stage Design for the 4th National Minorities Joint Performances, Wenhua Prize for Stage Design of Henan Province, "Yellow River Cup" for Stage Design, first prize of Cantonese Opera Joint Performances of Guangdong Province, first prize for Opera Joint Performances of Gansu Province, and the first prize winner of design of Fujian Province Opera Joint Performances. SONG Shiqiang Lighting Designer
Graduated from lighting design major of Stage Art Department at Shanghai Theatre Academy, he is vice chairman of Fujian Province Stage Artists Association, and now serves as the deputy director of Fujian Provincial Song and Dance Theatre. He has won such honours as "Excellent Lighting Design Award” in China’s 1st Opera Festival Competition, “Best Lighting Design Award” in the 2012 Danny Award For International Excellence In Theatrical Arts in Beijing, China, “Excellent Stage Design (Lighting Design) Award” in the 12th Guangdong Art Festival, “first prize for lighting design” in the 6th Fujian Art Festival & the 26th Opera Joint Performances, “Excellent Lighting Design Award” in the 3rd National Dance Drama and the 8th “Excellent Award of the Theory Works Award” of the Golden Chrysanthemum Award at the 9th China Acrobatic Festival. His main deign works include dance dramas Fujian Nostalgia, Song of the Maritime Silk Road, Hui’an Women; Chaozhou Opera (Guangdong) Reinstated, Ruoqu; original opera Tulou; Xiangju Opera Story of the Infant; Yue Opera Prince of Desert, Maple Leaves Falling into the Cold River.
JU Chen Costume Designer
Graduated from the Department of Fine Arts of The Central Academy of Drama, JU Chen now is studying master degree of stage character shape at The Central Academy of Drama and is working at Costume Design Crew of Technology Department of NCPA, JU Chen is the head teacher of stage costume class of NCPA. JU has participated in such works asPAN Jinlian, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Three Sisters; children's plays Story of the Trash Bin, The Wish Giver. JU has been the costume coordinator of such works as NCPAoperas Eugene Onegin, Otello, Rickshaw Boy, The Lady of the Camellias, Carmen, Die Fledermaus, and The Chinese Orphan; dramas Massage, Wangfujing and so on.
CHEN Junyu Make-up Designer
Graduated from the Monita Academy Hong Kong; in 1999, she became a student of senior workshop of MGPIN Image Design Art School, and now works Fujian Provincial Song and Dance Theatre and Fujian Media Group. Her main design works include operas Tosca, Darkness before Dawn, Die Zauberflote, Visitor on the Snow Mountain, The Lady of the Camellias; Fujian grand opera commission Tulou.
JIN Jifeng Prop Designer
Graduating from the Department of Stage Art of Central Academy of Drama, JIN Jifeng is now working at NCPA. He has been responsible for the prop production work of more than 40 operas, dramas, and dance dramas for NCPA. He has been theprops designer of such works as Marco Polo, The Ballad of Canal, The Fisherman and the Goldfish. He has also been the props coordinator of such operas as Der RosenKavalier, Il Trovatore, Samson et Dalila, Carmen, Tosca, Turandot, FANG Zhimin, The Red Guard on Honghu Lake, Barbiere di Siviglia, The Dawns Here Are Quiet, Lohengrin and such dramas as Massage, Wangfujing, A Doll's House; dance drama The Road to Revival, Marco Polo.
XIE Nan Body Shaping Director
XIE Nan is the former deputy director of Fujian Provincial Song and Dance Theatre and director of the song and dance troupe and is now an art director and director of the creative centre of Fujian Provincial Song and Dance Theatre. He has been many times a planner, a site director and a stage director partaking CCTV Spring Festival Gala and a number of state-level large-scale variety shows. His main works include Magic Five Rings for the opening ceremony of the 29th Beijing Olympic Games; dance dramas Song of the Maritime Silk Road, Hui’an Women; dance poems Fujian Nostalgia, Wedding Dress Festival; Pas de Deux Fate, Whisper; group dances Three Lanes and Seven Alleys, An Old Song, She and Her Daughter-in-Law.
MENG Tian Choreographer
MENG Tian graduated from the Central Academy of Drama and is now the dean and teacher of Department of Performance at Kede College of Capital Normal University. Her main works include psychological musical Addicted; A Play Like A Dream at the Youth Drama Festival. She has starred HUO Xin in the TV series Live a Little. In early 2011, she was invited by National Theatre of China to be the form designer in the drama Deeply Burned directed by WANG Xiaoying. In the summer of the same year, she was invited to be the form director of the drama Our JING Ke by the director REN Ming of Beijing People's Art Theatre.
XIAO Yan Sound Designer/Voice Control
Graduating from the Music Department of National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts, XIAO Yan has many a time been involved as the sound designer and supervisor of large-scale performances held by CCTV, Ministry of Culture, Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and state organs. Her main design works include musical plays Go! Slippers, The Little Prince; musicals Forever Young; dramas Miss Fox, Twisted Town, The Donkey, Lord of Her Highness, Being A Super Star, Gaudy Life of Liulizhuang, Auspicious Apartment, Two Men and A Woman (mainland version) Perturbed, Office Politics (star version), Love is...Pyjamas, Haitang Lane (star version) DJ Hits, Anecdotes about Immortals, I Know You Love Me, I Fall in Love with God, 1940 and so on.
WANG Lei Music Designer
WANG Lei graduated from Audio Engineering Profession at Beijing Union University and is now working at NCPA. WANG Lei became a student of the famous American sound design and sound engineer, Tony.zhihong.Liu after graduation. He has been the sound engineer for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 16th Guangzhou Asian Games; audio engineer for the opening and closing ceremonies of 26th Shenzhen Universiade; sound designer for the 2012 CCTV Spring Festival Gala Awards Ceremony; sound engineer for the global premier ceremonies of Let the Bullets Fly, If You Are The One 2, CZ12, Beginning of The Great Revival, 1942, Gone With The Bullets, Monster Hunt and other films; site sound engineer for the 2011 and 2012 Shanghai Jazz Music Festival.
