Revolutionary Road, a drama starring SHA Yi and HU Ke that is adapted from a globally bestselling classic novel, will have its premiere in the “NCPA International Theatre Season 2019” from August 14^th to 16^th. A press conference was held at the NCPA Press Room on July 29^th, attended by the director JIANG Tao, main performers SHA and HU producer WANG Pengfei, planner JIANG Xiaohan, playwright TIAN Xiaowei and representative artist LI Longyin.

The novel Revolutionary Road, published in 1961, was nominated for the National Book Award. The film Revolutionary Road has won three Oscar nominations, four Golden Globe nominations and other seventeen global awards. Considering the rave reviews, the drama comes much anticipated. As the production company Wonpennon Culture’s masterpiece produced with all its heart on the 10^th anniversary of its founding, the drama features an A-list production team of artists including the famous lighting designer HAN Jiang and set designer WANG Chen. Two years has passed since the start of production, and a fine work has come out today.

Revolutionary Road tells a story that took place in the USA in the 1950s, when a middle-class couple, who felt barren spiritually and led a boring life, struggled to get out of the predicament only to fail tragically.

At the press conference, the founder of Wonpennon Culture WANG Pengfei and the planner JIANG Xiaohan delivered a presentation to explain the original intention to programme the drama Revolutionary Road and current progress of production. The director JIANG talked about why he decided to make the drama, gave an interpretation of its dramatic character and foretold that the story would strike a chord with the audience; SHA and his wife HU, who had joined the drama as the main performers, shared something funny that had occurred during rehearsal, and the way they lived a daily life as a couple; the playwright TIAN spoke of his consideration on the script and responsibility to the public, while LI gave a profound presentation from the dramatic perspective. Then, the Life Road, the promotional theme song of the drama sung by SU Miaoling and composed by the Hong Kong I.M.P Music Studio, was performed live. The song has been released on online platforms such as QQMusic, KuGou and Kuwo.

The drama will be staged at the NCPA from August 14^th to 16^th, and then start its national tour at the Shanghai National Art Festival in November. Let’s all look forward to the staging of this drama, in which the truths about a mediocre life are revealed in the form of desperate love with the tears of the times.
