On November 5^th, 2022, the NCPA and National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts (NACTA) reached a strategic cooperation. WANG Ning, Vice Chairman of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPPCC and Secretary of CPC Leading Group & President of the NCPA, Vice Presidents of the NCPA LI Zhixiang, GE Dali, ZHU Jing and WANG Cheng; LI Biyou, Secretary of CPC Committee of NACTA, YIN Xiaodong, President of NACTA, RAN Changjian, Vice President of NACTA, JIANG Chengying, Secretary of the CPC Discipline Inspection Committee of the NACTA, SUN Qingsheng, Vice President of the NACTA; WANG Xiaoying, famous theatrical director and former Executive Vice President of National Theatre of China; LIU Dong, President of Jingju Theatre Company of Beijing; LI Zhongqiu, Vice Chairman of the Association International du Film d'Animation; TIAN Dan, Secretary of the CPC Committee of Department of Stage Art, Central Academy of Drama; and LIU Kedong, Vice President of the China Institute of Stage Design, attended the signing ceremony.

The National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts is not only the first national educational institution of traditional Chinese opera after the founding of the PRC but also the only Chinese university of cultivating top-notch traditional Chinese opera artists with an independent education system. NACTA is the highest-level institution of traditional Chinese opera education. Since its establishment 72 years ago, NACTA has made tremendous contributions to the inheritance and development of traditional Chinese opera art. In October 2020, General Secretary XI Jinping wrote a reply letter to teachers and students of NACTA, who expressed ardent expectations for the inheritance and development of traditional Chinese opera art. The keynote of his letter has also been embodied by NACTA in all aspects, actively fueling the development and construction on its own.

 

 

WANG Ning, President of the NCPA, claimed that the establishment of an all-round, in-depth and long-term strategic partnership between both sides will improve the development of China as a country with socialist culture, the construction of Beijing as the centre of four functions, and the advance of literary and artistic undertakings and aesthetic education in colleges and universities. The two sides are expected to make a good start with this strategic cooperation, stay true to original aspirations, make joint efforts to launch more excellent literary and artistic productions that demonstrate cultural confidence and eulogize the CPC, the motherland and the people; jointly establish an art platform for the outreach and education of traditional opera art to tell China’s stories and convey China’s voice; jointly launch training for artistic talents, fostering more cultural and art workers with independent thinking, dedication spirit and sense of responsibility, shoulder the common mission and responsibility, and realize the common pursuit of value. Today, the exhibition of “Amazing Stage” Stage Art Achievements of the National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts launches at the NCPA, which is not only an important outcome of the strategic cooperation between the two sides but also a crucial epitome for the NCPA as a comprehensive art display platform. In the future, the NCPA and NACTA will continue to work hand in hand for promising development and gather strength for the cultural prosperity of the capital and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese Nation.”

 

 

YIN Xiaodong, President of NACTA, gave a speech. Based on the principle of friendly cooperation and mutual benefit, the two sides signed a framework agreement on strategic cooperation. The two sides will take advantage of respective high-quality resources to carry out exchanges and cooperation in the fields of traditional opera art creation and performance, teaching faculties and students’ practice, traditional opera art popularization, education, research, and cultural product promotion, etc. In the course of cooperation and joint construction, the two sides will jointly contribute to enhancing the soft power of national culture and influence of Chinese culture. The two sides will co-host the exhibition of “Amazing Stage” Stage Art Achievements of the National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts. This exhibition will focus on displaying the substantial achievements made by our teaching faculties and students in different professional fields in recent years, and resound a new melody for the new era and new journey towards the construction of China in terms of culture and education, which is of great significance. NACTA is willing to join hands with the NCPA to contribute wisdom and strength to consolidating cultural confidence and ushering in the new brilliance of socialist culture.

 

 

At the signing ceremony, WANG Ning, the President of the NCPA, and LI Biyou, Secretary of CPC Committee of the NACTA, jointly unveiled the “Amazing Stage” Stage Art Achievements of the National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts, an exhibition co-hosted by the NCPA and NACTA.

 

 

 

 

This first-ever joint exhibition launched by the two sides is now on display at the West Exhibition Hall, the NCPA until November 15^th, displaying more than 100 stage artworks of NACTA in a wide range of categories and various forms.
