Since its world premiere in 2012, the West End Theatre musical Singin’ in the Rain has consistently been voted as one of the most beloved musical adaptions by audiences. It has also received four Oliver Award nominations and widespread acclaim from critics and media outlets. The classic arias in the film are exquisitely presented in the musical, including Good Morning, Make’em Laugh, Moses Supposes, and widely celebrated Singin’ in the Rain. What’s more, the musical pushes boundaries in visual storytelling. It retains signature neon lights, vibrant colours, and retro costumes while incorporating modern stage lighting and mechanical effects to create stunning scenes that offer audiences a fresh and immersive experience.
At the meet-and-greet, the cast members treated the audience to a medley of wonderful arias from the musical. Accompanied by Matthew Spalding’s amazing piano skills, they seamlessly connected highlights from eight classic arias.
From February 14th to 27th, this classic musical will meet the Chinese audience for the first time at the Opera House of the Beijing Performing Arts Centre. A series of events have been well-designed at the Centre, including art lectures, catering events, cultural and creative peripherals, spatial exhibitions, online and live interactions. There are also shuttle services provided. These efforts will offer the audience, the creative team and the cast of Singin’ in the Rain with a truly memorable and heartfelt experience.
