As Inspire was performed on July 5th, the sixth “Chinese Dance for 12 Days” co-hosted by NCPA and Chinese Dancers Association officially kicked off.
On that evening, the dance Inspire created by WU Husheng and CHEN Qi raised the curtain for the “Chinese Dance for 12 Days”. They drew insirations from their own experiences, presenting dilemma, seperation, and reunion we face in life with their body language, combining neoclassical ballet, modern ballet and contemporary ballet.

In the first half of Inspire,an elegant and delicate dance Hard to say Goodbye choreographed by WU Husheng appeared on stage, and CHEN Qi’s contemporary works full of antagonism and tension were performed in the second half. WU Husheng is an principal dancer at Shanghai Ballet, who took the first place in a number of international ballet competitions. In terms of choreography, He was always eager to try new things and embrace challenges.
On the stage WU Husheng, around the theme of “growth”, dissolved his experience and observation of life in the classical music melodies. And CHEN Qi, another young choreographer at Shanghai Ballet, revealed his attitude towards creation through Anti-clockwise and Nonexistent Story in the second half. Anti-clockwise is composed of three sections—Resonance, Autumn and Moonlight, with three different styles from the contemporary aestheticism to classicism.

About Nonexistent Story, CHEN Qi said, “I have learned sign language since childhood because my maternal grandparents can’t speak. When I thought of Nonexistent Story, I suddenly realised that I can use sign language in my work. I hope this speical language can enhance feelings in this manner, so that audience could fell my inner world.”
After the performance of Inspire, other five dance programmes inluding Kids, Intellectuals’ Style, Nine-coloured Deer, Spring in Autumn and Intangible or Tangible are to be staged.
